  • Fascinating

I am what I like to call religiously confused. I left the church and full time ministry about ten years ago. I then delved into 10’s of thousands of hours of study in world religion and philosophy. I just happened to have stumbled upon this, and I find it to be the balance the Christian church needs. My own story aside it’s been fascinating listen to hear these young people wrestle with their ideas, values, and personal preference, in service of a higher ideal. Great pod.

    Worth the listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

296 — Understanding Child Trafficking
Q: What are the warning signs parents and communities should look for?
Red flags include sudden access to resources (new clothes, phones, gifts), missing youth, behavioral changes, new friends or groups, secrecy around online activity, and signs of coercive dynamics or manipulation in relationships; early conversation and trauma-informed responses are crucial.
296 — Understanding Child Trafficking
Q: Could you tell us what trafficking is in a way that listeners can understand, and what Lily Haven focuses on?
Trafficking, especially with youth, is using relationships and vulnerability to exploit someone for sex or labor, often without clearly defined coercion but through grooming and manipulation; Lily Haven focuses on long-term, holistic support for teen girls through a group-home model, addressing mental and physical health, education, life skills, and strong social supports.
294 — Does Love Keep No Record of Wrongs?
Q: So, Carl, I'd love to hear just your initial instinct or reaction when this topic came up. Where did your mind go?
Carl reflects on the distinction between forgiving and forgetting, emphasizes the importance of boundaries, and notes that forgiveness should not erase accountability or context of harm.
290 — Dr. Paul Putz | Should Christians Gamble on Sports?
Q: Have you heard of any organizations or sports outlets that have made a hard stance against gambling ads or content?
There's conversations about building an alternative sports media ecosystem that rejects gambling company money, but no major organizations have made a hard stance yet.
290 — Dr. Paul Putz | Should Christians Gamble on Sports?
Q: How do we make meaningful change?
As Christians, engaging with sports at a youth level and modeling healthy competition can help counteract the transactional culture brought by gambling.
