  • Smut is Smut & Sin is Sin

Axis is such a great resource for grandparents, like me, and I learn so much each week; however, last week’s Half-Time show insights were shocking, especially from Irene who expressed very toxic empathy towards the Puerto Rican people ignoring the smut visually and verbally. Men grinding on men, etc, and I wouldn’t even want to type out the vulgar lyrics. Any of my Puerto Rican friends, religious or not, were embarrassed and offended by Bad Bunny’s performance. They even went on to say that i... more

Guys yall are dumb when yall are talking. Put Christ first instead of other peoples feelings. And also, when talkin about the cultural events, yall put Forrest Frank in the bottom 10 but the Pope in top 10!!!! Forrest Frank has much more cultural impact than the Pope. Cmon now

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

"How to Talk to Your Teen About Video Games" with CJ Fant
Q: What is a constructive way to talk about violent or sexual content in games without shaming the teen?
Discuss the game within its context, acknowledge moral questions the content raises, and use openness rather than accusation to invite the teen to reflect on choices and values.
"How to Talk to Your Teen About Video Games" with CJ Fant
Q: How would you advise a parent to respond to concerns about time spent gaming or the kinds of games being played?
Start with curiosity, set reasonable boundaries, and pursue relational equity by engaging with your teen's interests, sometimes playing with them or watching gameplay to understand the context before addressing content concerns.
Ask Axis: "How do I help my daughters decide which influences (and influencers) to embrace?"
Q: Matthew asked, how and when? Is there a time that makes the most sense to start leaning into these conversations, particularly in this case if his daughters are a bit more sheltered?
The hosts suggest starting conversations early during middle school years, acknowledging development and the natural tendency to compare with peers, and using a structured framework to discuss influencers—beginning with what is good before addressing potential concerns and grounding the discussion in scripture.
Ask Axis: "How do I create a home environment where my son feels safe to admit mistakes?"
Q: How can we create an environment where our kids feel safe admitting mistakes?
Lead by example by openly acknowledging your own mistakes, modeling proper apologies, and showing that forgiveness is available. Pair high warmth with clear, consistent expectations and boundaries, and involve the extended community for support when needed.
Roundtable: Pokémon Cards, Punch the Monkey, and Family Resilience
Q: You have said that your family is pretty into Pokemon cards and collecting and buying decks. Is this sort of possibility of getting a card that is worth a ton of money, one of the main motivators for your family, or is something else at play in your experience?
If we got a card that was worth the money, then it might be the drive. But we're not there yet, we're just spending the money and not hitting the cards.
