A great listen. Mike Stax’s respectful and knowledgeable approach draws out information you will not hear elsewhere. His recent interviews with Johnny Echols and the wonderful Cyril Jordan are both hilarious and insightful, painting vivid pictures of the West Coast music scene of the late 60s and early 70s and what life was really like in bands that wavered between fame and obscurity. The interview recording of Sky Saxon is absolute GOLD.
Unreal!!! The audio equivalent of the magazine but so much more!!!
I’m a lifelong fan of outsider music and this show is like a warm bath for fans of the forgotten, the cool, the unwashed mysteries of all things garage. Mike Stax is simply the best at what he does and is an articulate story teller of the highest order. This podcast exudes an uncanny empathy for it’s subjects and producer, James Archer delivers a smooth audio ride for the listener. Compares favourably to my fave podcast, “You Must Remember This” by Karina Longworth. more
