  • Love the old stories

Just listened to the latest show with Shawn McCarthy. Great listen, I’m 44 now and it brought me back to when I was a kid listening to my grandfather, dad and neighbour talking about big musky. “Went gunnel to gunnel in the boat”, “attacked my paddle” while canoeing and was as long as the canoe lol. Much appreciated. The old boys club are a wealth of knowledge. The 3 part with Johnny and Pete was great as well. Great segue into the latest episode.

Wishing you continued success, as much of a lab... more

  • Review

Some really awesome episodes on eastern Ontario fisheries (eg non NW Ontario). Have to sort through some ads and some episodes get hijacked by UFC and bitcoin banter.

  • Ok guests that’s about it

Guests are the most interesting but that’s about it, the distance formats are a pain because they are constantly talking over them and not always listening to them. Also the new formats they take any chance to plug there merchandise really annoying. I think the show has run its course

  • Musky

Sounds like good guys but they must record from different locations. Awkward lengths of silence combined with everyone talking over each other. Hard to listen at times.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 287 - Full Moon Friday: Saved by the Bell
Q: What stood out most about the recent fight and the preparation behind it?
A focus on mental conditioning—imagining loss and mitigating risk—proved to be a decisive edge, as the fighter trained his mind to stay calm and execute under pressure.
Episode 285 - Live from the Lake - Early Opener is here!
Q: What makes the live scope approach so effective for fishing these muskies?
It provides a real-time view of fish and bait, allowing precise placement of lures and better timing, which improves success when targeting muskies, especially during specific windows like sundown or certain depth ranges.
Episode 279 - Pat Tryon pt.2
Q: What do you value more, wind or moon patterns when patterning muskies?
Wind is the primary factor because it drives local weather and current; moon patterns are a supplementary factor rather than the main driver.
Episode 271 - Full Moon Friday: Muskie Odyssey Edition
Q: How will increased foot traffic at the Odyssey translate into research and conservation outreach?
The plan is to connect visitors with science talks, fundraising campaigns, and interactive exhibits that tie back to ongoing projects like the Spanish River Study, ensuring that public interest translates into support for Muskies Canada research and conservation efforts.
Episode 271 - Full Moon Friday: Muskie Odyssey Edition
Q: What is the strategic reason for the CanCast and Muskie Odyssey partnership?
The partnership increases exposure and access to a wider audience, helping Muskie Canada grow its membership, educate the public, and attract a broader, more diverse crowd to the Odyssey while reinforcing conservation messaging.
