The narrator does such a wonderful job with every character-- especially Sy! I can't help but read the webnovel in their voice now.
It's such a nice surprise to have a little more Twig to listen to every so often, and I gotta respect the sheer dedication to getting the whole thing recorded.
Excellent audiobook for Wildbow's least podcasted work. Sometimes has long gaps between arcs due to being a volunteer project.
The story itself is tactical, innovative alt-historical biopunk.
Because of course they are!
For anyone who may be encountering this story for the first time, I’d recommend to start listening right away from the first chapter. You will almost immediately know if it’s something you’ll be into.
For anyone else, Kim Dauber’s hard work in narrating Wildbow’s biopunk masterstroke really shows. I can’t speak for chapters published past the date of this review, but what Dauber has done already is worthy of the highest praise.
Much obliged to Kim and anyone who supp... more
If you’re a fan of weird fiction give this a listen.
The premise (spoiler) Mary Shelly invents a real frankensteins monster instead of just writing the first science fiction book, and it’s a hundred years later and the effects of that have spun out into an eternal empire…. Global Civil war on the horizon, and the Lambsbridge Project is proceeding we apace.
Sylvester and his friends (colleagues? Fellow experiments?) hunt the monsters which threaten The Crown.
Content warnings abound for this... more
i adore this show i’ve listened to it multiple times even if it takes a bit to get a new episode the quality and performance makes it one heck of a deal
Wildbow's writing is masterful as always, and Kim Dauber's narration is superb. The only downside is the slow pace of updates, which though completely understandable, means it will be a long time before I finish reading the story. 9/10
As someone who is dyslexic, i appreciate when people take it into their hands to make audiobooks. Especially since i love wildbow and loved worm and ward. Thank you all for doing this <3 the edits take forever and the music does too. And im so happy you took the time for this, with professional edits too. If you havent listened do it. Its like gore/adventure/pseudosciency/ fun and intriguing
Hoorah! I’m very pleased to see that the Twig audiobook is once again updating. Twig is such a terrific gothic biopunk, and being able to passively listen to it is super convenient for doing busywork. And is it bad that I’m enjoying Twig even more with the dark irony of the recent pandemic?
Regardless, I’m a fan.
I love all of Wildbow's works, and I am putting all of my other podcasts on hold until I catch up with this one. Excellent reading of an excellent book.
This is a superb reading. The voice acting is amazing, the diction clear, and the pacing fun and engrossing. I find myself listening to chapters right after reading them because I want to hear the actress’ interpretation.
I really enjoy this and hope that more chapters come soon
One of the best fan-made audiobooks I’ve seen! The voice acting and audio quality is fantastic. 5/5
To Potential Listeners: *The* Biopunk story in my opinion. The writing is so smooth and effortless and the characters even more so. Check this out.
To the recorder: These are amazing. Thank you for putting the work into it. You should be posting each chapter to the r/parahumans subreddit. That’d get a lot more people on board I bet
One of my favorite works for wildbow please keep doing this, I know it been a while but this is great and I’d love to get to go through the whole serial.
I think it's so great that you guys are taking this on. I love listening to wildbow's stories when I'm on walks or have my eyes or hands otherwise engaged, you guys make that possible! And I'm so greatful. A couple things I wanted to point out to you though, that I was hoping you would take constructively, both on pronunciation. The word is "QUAR-en-teen" not "QUAR-en-tine" and the way to say the name of Sy's project is "WHY-vern" not "wih-vern." Thank you so much for your hard work and I can't ... more
