It’s Holy Week, and Tripp, Amy and Christian are here on the LectioCast to help you survive Easter.

This week is the Palm Sunday Edition of the LectioCast: the Triumphal Entry versus the Annunciation. Christian tries to convince Amy and Tripp that they should preach on the Annunciation texts, and not the triumphal entry, by showing how they’re conn... more
I miss Dr. Daniel Kirk. The quality of this podcast has really dropped in his absence. It’s inconsistent, scatterbrained and lacking and intrigue.
I just started listening during Lent and now enjoy the "Surviving the bible" episodes as I learn about scripture. Many of the churches around here are conservative and it's been hard to find a denomination/community where I feel I can fit in. But learning through these shows has been deeply moving, and thought-provoking. Each show helps bring a new perspective to my still developing practice while also resonating with my deepest beliefs, though I always feel challenged in a positive way to conti... more
This is such a useful listen, but what happened? Haven't had an episode for months. Also, there is virtue in the discipline of keeping to a time limit - 30 min makes an excellent podcast.
Whether he is on his own or has brought on an interesting guest, with Kirk you'll always find great insights into the lectionary readings. Sermon in Latin is "conversation" and that's what the good Dr. provides.
Even though I'm no longer preaching I'm still hooked on this podcast. JRDK is always insightful and interesting. I especially love the episodes with guests. Keep it up!
This is a great podcast. I enjoy the concise (well, fairly concise) critical but sympathetic analyses of Lectionary texts. The only thing I'd offer is that not all listeners are prepcrastinating pastors. I'm just a lay listener who likes to dig a little deeper. Anyhow, keep up the good work!
I love this podcast. A deeply beautiful podcast that illuminates, comforts, challenges, and invites everyone to live into the story of God.
Just started listening to the podcast a few weeks ago, and I've really enjoyed it. Dr. Kirk and his guests provide informative commentary on the weekly lectionary texts, along with practical insights for preaching paths. I especially appreciate the suggestions given for commentaries and other supplemental resources for better understanding the texts. I find the podcast a great addition to my weekly sermon prep.
It is Dr. Daniel Kirk. Of course it is good. And no, he did not pay me to write that.
As a worship leader at a hybrid contemporary/liturgical Christian church, this is a wonderful resource of progressive Christian thought that helps me prepare to an ancient/future worship service.
Homebrewed Christianity has been solid with every project they've taken on, and LectioCast is no exception! JRD Kirk and his guests handle Scripture really well, so whether you're preaching from the lectionary or just looking for some Bible teaching, you're always going to get a brain and heart full!
An excellent addition to the HBC stable. Having just powered through all the episodes, I intend to make this a regular part of my podcast diet.
I do have a couple of suggestions to offer. I'm not a pastor, so I won't be listening for sermon prep help. Rather, I enjoy the podcast as Bible commentary. I listen while working and can't usually stop and look up the texts. So it would be helpful if you would read the texts, or at least summarize them, before beginning the discussion.
As for my rib... more
I appreciate how the hosts bring a casual style to addressing the weekly texts of the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL). They are not locked into just one way or mode of interpretation. They bring in multiple perspectives and are respectful other alternatives. If you want a relaxed and meaningful and contemporary commentary on the RCL texts each week, this is for you.
This podcast inspires me every week (dare I say... more so than my own highly regarded pastor). It's thoughtful, solid exegesis, sensitive, and, yes, even funny! I find myself preparing for it, listening to episodes more than once to get the full depth and richness of the lectionary being discussed, and feeling challenged by it!
They’re funny. They’re easy to listen to. And each episode is PACKED with great reflections on the texts. My suggestion: get together with some friends and listen, then discuss together. It’s what I want to do!
