  • What? Combating crypto skepticism? You should tell investors to dump it!

Unless biased, it is unbelievable that a broker is defending crypto. It is not even a currency. There is no collateral, not regulated, used by criminals, every day there is a new crypto and there is another collapsing. I expected more from Interactive Brokers. You should be warning investors to stay away from that toxic scam. Disappointing!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Crude Reality: Markets Caught Between War and the Fed
Q: How might these external shocks influence the Fed's rate decision and their forward guidance?
External shocks like geopolitical tensions and tariffs complicate the inflation outlook, pushing the Fed toward a cautious stance where cuts may be delayed and forward guidance remains constrained by sticky inflation and evidence from data such as the PPI, with a tendency to maintain higher-for-longer expectations.
Europhoria: Is Europe’s Market Moment Here?
Q: What is an interesting opportunity in 2026 for European markets, and what should investors be cautious about?
Olivier notes opportunities in Europe's energy transition, infrastructure spending, and healthcare advances, while highlighting that US–China relations and potential US trade policy realignments (including USMCA renewal) could quickly alter the investment backdrop and risk–reward for Europe.
Europhoria: Is Europe’s Market Moment Here?
Q: What kind of trend do you see consolidating or strengthening in 2026 that was embedded in 2025?
Chris explains that European markets saw leadership in banks, utilities, and energy-related sectors in 2025, with a continued relocation of capital into Europe that could persist into 2026, provided there is continued valuation support and stable political conditions.
Dual Mandate Dilemma: Inflation vs. Jobs Amid AI Investment, Slowing Hiring, and Rate-Cut Uncertainty
Q: What is the connection between a strong jobs report and expectations about Fed rate policy?
A solid jobs number reduces the likelihood that the Fed needs to cut rates aggressively, as stronger data supports keeping rates higher for longer. Markets may still anticipate some cuts this year, but the pace and magnitude of those cuts depend on how data evolves, with investors leaning toward a cautious, data-dependent path.
Dual Mandate Dilemma: Inflation vs. Jobs Amid AI Investment, Slowing Hiring, and Rate-Cut Uncertainty
Q: Could you explain what the Fed's dual mandate is and why balancing them simultaneously is so challenging?
The Fed aims for price stability around 2% inflation and the highest sustainable employment level. When the economy runs hot, inflation tends to rise while unemployment falls, pushing for higher rates; when it slows, inflation can fall and unemployment rises, pushing for lower rates. The current environment, with inflation above target yet unemployment near or above the long-run estimate and rising, forces the Fed to weigh which mandate to emphasize, often leading to cautious, data-driven decisions rather than aggressive moves.
