  • Wonderful Podcast

I stumbled across this podcast after listening to Slip Angle. This is truly a fantastic podcast that really dives into racing physically and mentally. They also really have some life lessons in here which I love. Keep it up Scott and Seth! See you guys at Gridlife!

  • Grassroots Motorsports at its Best

Scott and Seth have done a fantastic job building a podcast around around the question of “why and how do we engage in this sport?” Through a series of chats with each other and a slew of grassroots motorsport participants they provide insight into many aspects of our obsession.

Their discussions are both engaging and open, with a philosophical bent that appears to even provide their guests with greater insight into their own stories.

I cannot recommend this program enough - 11/10.

  • Good for the analytical driver

I don’t listen to many car related podcasts because I already spend so much of my life on cars, but this one ties driving into everyday life and self-analysis in a way that is very engaging. Great for drivers who like to think about why and how they drive.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

230 - Learning How to Learn (David Best)
Q: When did you realize you needed data and a more structured approach in your racing?
As soon as I started chasing performance in track days, I started to see that raw speed wasn't enough. Data and feedback from others helped me understand where my technique and approach needed changing, not just how fast I could go.
228 - Don't Compete Against Your Friends (Andy Voelkel)
Q: What made you shift from intense competition in Call of Duty to enjoying racing more for fun and sustainability?
He describes burnout, finding a core group of friends, and discovering that the joy was in competing with balance rather than chasing constant top results; this led to a focus on fun, training, and long-term involvement.
228 - Don't Compete Against Your Friends (Andy Voelkel)
Q: How did you first get into the GridLife paddock and racing world?
He explains starting in marketing for RideTech, discovering GridLife through an ad, and attending the fall Gingerman event that sparked his interest in real-world racing.
218 - Should've Done Way More Homework (Jim Smith)
Q: What made you feel like you didn't belong? Was it simply the fact that you were new or what was it about that?
I think I belonged to be there, but more so to prove that I was good enough to be with the people you've looked up to for so long.
218 - Should've Done Way More Homework (Jim Smith)
Q: So why were you thinking, okay, so you thought that you were stagnant as a driver, having been in time attack for a while, why did you think Wheel to Wheel was the next step for you?
I wanted to challenge myself and like do more wheel to wheel, realizing that I wasn't learning new lessons really.
