  • Jim Abrams the GOAT!

Always love this podcast listened to so many great episodes too many to list and there is always a nugget or pages of notes and action items to take and implement in my HVAC & plumbing business. I was able to find Jim’s book contractors guide to greatness and knew I had to read it after the podcast and while I didn’t have to spend $5k on eBay to get mine I’m sure it has 100X or more than that value inside. Thanks y’all keep up the great show you are an invaluable resource to our trades!!!

Q: Best growth lever under $10 million
The key was focusing on residential plumbing and not spreading too thin across different services; dialing in processes and not chasing every opportunity allowed for stronger foundations before expanding into additional trades.

Q: How did the cross-trade program start, and what results did you see?
The program started at smaller branches where plumbers and HVAC techs knew each other; it evolved into a formal, trackable app-based incentive system that paid for each appointment booked across trades, generating significant revenue and improving conversion rates.
How a Third-Generation Home Services Business Is Scaling to $35M
Q: What changes did Redwood bring that you didn't expect, or that had a meaningful impact?
Redwood provided coaching, processes, and access to a network that helped formalize cross-trade incentives, improve marketing and CRM approaches, and accelerate growth while maintaining independence and culture.
