  • Jim Abrams the GOAT!

Always love this podcast listened to so many great episodes too many to list and there is always a nugget or pages of notes and action items to take and implement in my HVAC & plumbing business. I was able to find Jim’s book contractors guide to greatness and knew I had to read it after the podcast and while I didn’t have to spend $5k on eBay to get mine I’m sure it has 100X or more than that value inside. Thanks y’all keep up the great show you are an invaluable resource to our trades!!!

Yelp Responds To Contractors' Biggest Complaints | Part 1
Q: How does Yelp balance review quantity with quality and ensure trustworthy content for homeowners and contractors?
Yelp emphasizes a broad, quality-focused approach, using data signals and AI to determine which reviews are recommended, while avoiding manipulation through solicitations and prioritizing content that reflects genuine customer experiences.
Yelp Responds To Contractors' Biggest Complaints | Part 1
Q: What was the purpose of the Hatch acquisition and why was Yelp the right fit for this next phase?
The acquisition combined Hatch's AI-driven lead management capabilities with Yelp's large contractor marketplace and distribution, accelerating the platform's ability to manage inquiries, bookings, and customer interactions at scale.
Yelp Responds To Contractors' Biggest Complaints | Part 2
Q: How does Yelp define a lead and what metrics should contractors use to measure ROI?
Leads are defined by material intent rather than surface interactions; success is measured by what actually leads to booked appointments and closed deals, with attention to how quickly and effectively the contractor responds and manages the lead.
How Josh Campbell Built, Scaled, and Sold Rescue Air | VIP Guest Josh Campbell
Q: What were the core catalysts that helped Josh Campbell pivot from a trading background into building a scalable home services company?
Campbell credits exposure to formal training networks, KPI-driven management, and a relentless focus on learning and applying best practices. The combination of mentorship, data-driven decision making, and disciplined execution enabled him to scale and eventually pursue a successful exit.
How Redwood Services Built a $1.1B Home Services Platform | VIP Guests Richard Lewis & John Conway
Q: What part of the home service industry is broken, but nobody wants to admit it?
Employee retention and turnover are the core issues; turnover of 40-60% annually hinders consistent growth, along with marketing inefficiencies and the leakage in the sales funnel that undermines profitability.
