  • Great guest list

While I have been featured on the show in a couple of episodes, I really appreciate all of the guests that to the point pulls in. People like Josh Corman, Nick Chaillan, Mishi Choudhary, and Chris Krebs are top in their class. I love that the episodes are full of great insight about cyber security issues, and that they are not just going for trying to promote forcepoint’s business. Kudos to the forcepoint team for pulling off years of high-quality content on a consistent basis.

  • Full circle moment for Sunburst incident

As someone who has been following along with To The Point for the last two years, I loved listening to Sudhakar Ramakrishna’s recent episode as it came full circle with his first episode recorded right after the Sunburst incident. Sudhakar’s transparency about the incident is refreshing and should stand as an example for how cybersecurity leaders should approach their organization’s missteps and the occasional crisis. I also hope that his “community vigil” mindset is an approach to cybersecurity... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AppSec Needs AI Employees, Not More Tools with Shan Kulkarni
Q: Four out of four panelists called S-bombs useless for modern AppSec teams because visibility alone isn't enough to drive outcomes. How should teams think about S-bombs and using AI to act on them?
The idea is that S-bombs were an early visibility step, but teams now want AI to interpret them, prioritize exploitable items, and automate workflows—integrating SBOM data with AI capabilities to actually reduce backlog and fix critical risks rather than just listing issues.
AppSec Needs AI Employees, Not More Tools with Shan Kulkarni
Q: You've been talking publicly about legacy dashboards and scanners and ticket routing being a losing game. Where does that approach go if folks keep using it, and when does it break?
Kulkarni explains that the traditional model of buying many scanners and then routing tickets to humans is fading; the gap is that when there aren't enough security engineers to fix findings, the legacy model fails to deliver value, and AI-enabled automation is needed to triage and remediate more effectively.
Bridging Hackers and Government: Securing America's Water with Jake Braun - Part 2
Q: How did you get involved in cybersecurity from a policy background?
A bar in Brussels where a discussion about a data-sharing agreement led to a realization that technologists would explain cyber, and that experience ultimately steered him toward public policy work in cyber.
Bridging Hackers and Government: The Digital Arsenal of Democracy, with Jake Braun - Part 1
Q: How can the hacker community and human rights organizations collaborate effectively?
By creating a tech stack or arsenal of tools that supports civil society, with NGOs guiding objectives and hackers providing technical innovation, while ensuring the collaboration remains non-coercive and rights-centered.
Why Human Judgment Still Wins in the AI-Driven SOC with Monzy Merza - Part 2
Q: Is it feasible for organizations to build this AI SOC in-house?
It's risky to overestimate internal capabilities; many organizations can't build robust, auditable AI security systems and should consider partnering with specialized providers to ensure continuity and compliance.
