加拿大麥基爾大學團隊在《麻醉學》期刊發表研究指出，冰敷一開始能降低疼痛，但在某些情況下，整體的恢復時間卻增加了超過一倍。
研究人員發現，某些能在短期內降低發炎和緩解疼痛的處理方式，也可能干擾完整恢復所需的生物過程。
