  • Great wisdom here

Worth listening to whether al-anon, AA, or any 12 step program. Something for everyone. The earlier sessions with Tom are keepers - I’ve listened to them several times.

  • Listening like you’ve had the pleasure of knowing that person for a long time.

Upon awakening my father and best friend facing end stage liver disease drank a lot of rum to ease his pain. He then said good morning to his husband and went to warm up in the hottub where he accidentally drowned. I have been an alcoholic since I was 9 years old but it wasn’t until my father drowned at the age of 40 that I really lost control. It was this event that really sent me tumbling in and out of people’s lives causing all sorts of problems for 3 years. I’m 5 months and 23 days sober tod... more

  • The most concise speaker

First time I heard Tim speak, I immediately wanted him to be my sponsor! I think he might be too busy at the moment though! ! :)

I so appreciate the articulate nature of each topic he addresses. For me, his Al anon speaks are so on target to the needs of my co dependency. I laugh and cry through the whole time, because he seems to know exactly what I’m going through! How refreshing and what a comfort to know we are not alone and that someone like Tim has a ton of wisdom that he gladly passes o... more

Tim M London AA, Workshop for CA in Birmingham, Part 2
Q: In CA and CMA, how do you keep new participants engaged with sponsorship when the same people keep doing service roles?
Sponsorship works best when you empower newcomers to think and act for themselves, rather than outsourcing the work; trusted mentors guide, but the learner does the applying of the program.
Tim M London AA, Workshop for CA in Birmingham, Part 2
Q: You described trauma and its impact on connecting with your higher power; how do you reconcile traumatic experiences with a sustaining relationship with God?
Traumatic events affect us day by day, but the key is to place the problem in God's hands and not let the narrative we build around the event harden our relationship with the divine.
Tim M London AA in Llandrindod Wells on the Higher Power
Q: Does that make sense?
Tim confirms that the concepts are meant to be practical and observable in everyday life, inviting listeners to watch how power operates in the lives of others and themselves.
Tim M London AA in Toruń, Poland, 2026, part 6
Q: What is the line between carrying the message and living in AA?
There isn't a clear line; it's about balancing sharing what works with not overwhelming others, recognizing that the message often lands based on one's example and sincerity rather than forceful preaching.
Tim M London AA in Toruń, Poland, 2026, part 6
Q: How do you explain the 12 steps to a newcomer in under a minute?
You focus on simplifying language, avoiding typical AA jargon, and connect the steps to personal stories the newcomer can relate to, then guide them to tell their own stories to build resonance and engagement.
