  • Perfection 👍

One of my favorite podcasts. Love your buttery voice and sense of humor. I was forced to attend church all through childhood and into young adulthood. I was told, “If you live in my house, you must go to church every Sunday.” So I sat in my car, at the end of the church parking lot so I could honestly say yes, I went to church this morning. When I revealed I no longer believed I got nothing but continual harassment from my mom and brother. I’ve learned to keep my beliefs to myself now, but that ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Elevator Metaphor: Portrait of American Idiots
Q: How do you feel about that?
The caller asks for guidance on how to approach discussions with political opponents; Seth suggests trying to engage, be adjacent to those waking up, and vote while speaking out.
RESIST: 4 Ways to Defend Democracy (with Andrew Seidel)
Q: What can be done to protect religious freedom without allowing discrimination?
Religious freedom is not unlimited; it ends where the rights of others begin, and laws must protect civil rights while allowing thoughtful belief.
RESIST: 4 Ways to Defend Democracy (with Andrew Seidel)
Q: Would he restate the four action items for resisting Christian nationalism?
He outlined educating yourself and fighting disinformation, defending church-state separation, organizing with a popular movement and telling personal stories, with emphasis on the middle as the key audience.
That's Just Insulting: My Chat with an Ark Encounter Evangelist
Q: What did you hope to learn or prove from talking to the Ark Encounter apologist?
I aimed to test the apologist's ability to justify the scientific and historical claims, show where those claims collapse under scrutiny, and demonstrate to listeners the importance of asking hard questions and seeking evidence in public discussions about science and religion.
Are Atheists Less Moral? (with Dr. Phil Zuckerman)
Q: When it comes to violent crime and other statistics, if the Mormons are an exception, does this validate the Mormon example?
Yes, there are exceptions in social data, but averages show that even among religious groups, outcomes vary and that overall, secular states often align with lower crime and better social indicators, though context matters.
