Here we have a woman and a non-white person sharing their well informed opinions. How very dare them!
How dare they bring some hope that not everyone is a raging bigot who only wants to see other people suffer. Using a balance of empathy and righteous indignation to report on current events, whilst putting the worse of the worst shame.
How dare they hold themselves to a higher level of accountability than the people they report about. Though the bar set by the (usually) cishet white men who freq... more
The hosts are just darn likable and deliver news about frightening religious overreach in a way that doesn’t make me want to avoid it out of anxiety. It’s important we all know what is going on but sometimes the news is hard to take. Staying informed but level headed helps me to take action when I can. Thanks!
This podcast is one of my favorites, and I always place at the front of my queue as soon as a new episode drops! Hemant and Jessica have such a funny rapport, and it’s always a delight when something sets Jessica off in uncontrollable laughter. My wife and I also enjoy listening to the bonus episode together. Happy 40th birthday, Sarah! I sure hope Jessica read that on the air without having pre-read the comment! Five stars!

I have been listening for years to this podcast. It is amazing. Hemant’s research tied to Jessica’s passion. Everytime Hessica sings Oklahoma, I’m right there with you. You two are a bright spot in a weary world. Thank you for everything you do.

A sharp, data-driven discussion of religion, politics, and culture from a skeptical bent. Episodes repeatedly dissect church-state separation, religious influence on policy, and social issues through careful sourcing, humor, and a measured, two-host dynamic. The show tends to favor secular viewpoints and evidence-based analysis, while balancing serious critique with warmth and wit. Noteworthy traits include thorough research, a willingness to challenge powerful institutions, and a distinctive banter between two hosts with complementary personalities that keeps heavy topics accessible. This makes it a strong pick for listeners who want informed commentary on current events from an atheist or humanist perspective, with room for thoughtful hum... more
