The Econoclasts is a new podcast from UnHerd hosted by economist Yanis Varoufakis and journalist Wolfgang Munchau. While they don't always agree politically, they are united in one conviction: the consensus is rotten. Mainstream economics has consistently failed to predict the events that shape our world, yet this broken orthodoxy still dominates policy and media. Each week, they choose two pillar... more

I like this podcast both of them are usually so far off the mark it’s hilarious. Occasionally they do say something I agree with which is amazing. The Greek is Gaza brained like many but he can’t help that.
But they are entertaining - maybe not for the reasons they think they are - but I always listen to their latest hot takes which can be interesting.
Two strong independent voices, which stand out against the collective delusion. It gives me hope.
Russian biased rubbish. Very disappointing from an economist I once respected.
They were interesting when talking economics but with the war in Iran, Yanis immediately dove into every tired conspiracy about the noble Palestinians, Israel hypnotizing Trump, Mossadegh being some great democratic leader, etc. Sad that people who should know better traffic in this nonsense.
Really enjoy the thought provoking pov and discourse. The points you made on the new Fed Governor are a stand out and ahead of the curve. Wish I could make it to London for the live session.

Two prominent hosts dissect geopolitics, macroeconomics, and technology with a contrarian, analytically sharp lens. Across recent episodes they challenge mainstream orthodoxy on Europe's geopolitical posture, US hegemony, the role of AI and digital tech in warfare, and the interplay between policy, finance, and strategy. The discussions frequently critique established narratives, highlight long-term structural shifts, and propose unconventional, diplomatically ambitious pathways. The show is notable for its rigorous back-and-forth, willingness to toggle between economic theory and real-world strategy, and a preparedness to question powerful institutions and conventional wisdom.
