4.4 out of 5 stars from 1.1k ratings
  • Empty

Freddie’s feathers are constantly ruffled but he never makes an argument or articulates a a thought out position. It’s all “a lot of people might say.” I think it’s because his only recommitment is to stirring up dissent no matter how inconsistent or frankly dumb and then mindlessly hedging between that “dissent” and “consensus.” Lots of echo and zero light.

  • Unheard it will be from now

Two star as the host is fully knowledgeable otherwise it would be 0 stars. But the host openly expresses his bias that with current global conflict has been extremely annoying. Back to searching for good unbiased information with informed guests maybe DOAC.

  • Cranks and lies

Unherd has devolved into a platform for conspiracy theorists and cranks whose singular obsession with the supposed evils of Israel is vile anti-semitism. Why not interview an Iranian dissident, or a Venezuelan or a serious credible thinker from

Israel? Instead you give hot air time to liars and propagandists such as the entirely irrelevant Joe Kent who disgustingly blames his wife’s death in syria fighting for America on- who else? Of course. What a sicko. And shame on Unherd for its intellectu... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The stage is set for a new WWI
Q: Are we sleepwalking into a new world war?
Westad argues that while the threat is serious, the framework of a Cold War II is misleading; the world is already in a multipolar system with rising regional tensions and technological competition that could trigger crises, but not necessarily a full-scale relapse into a global war unless leadership and misperception align poorly.
Orbán's defeat is not a liberal victory
Q: Where else is there signs of European nationalist evolution and how could it take shape?
Aris points to France, Italy, Germany, and the CPAC Hungary dynamics as indicators of a broader shift toward a European-centered nationalism that operates within existing continental structures.
Orbán's defeat is not a liberal victory
Q: What lesson is there for reform movements in other countries, like the UK?
The discussion warns that embracing an American-populist branding can backfire and that European-aligned nationalism may be more effective if grounded in domestic reform and EU cooperation.
Orbán's defeat is not a liberal victory
Q: Do you think we can confidently say that Hungarian voters on the basis of this result want to face towards Europe and have no interest in a third-way middle ground between Europe and Russia?
He argues that voters ideologically align with Europe on democracy and European standards but still express strong nationalist instincts, suggesting a nuanced European-right path rather than a simple pro- or anti-EU stance.
Orbán's defeat is not a liberal victory
Q: Tell us a bit more about that then.
Aris explains that the election result signals a rejection of a long-standing illiberal project and corruption, while indicating a possible shift toward a more Europe-focused nationalist approach that remains pragmatic within EU channels.
