Generally just more weak-kneed, Wet Tory-leftist pablum under a new name.
Regretfully, I must also agree with others here that Freddy is, frankly, insufferable. He routinely spoils the “interviews,” especially with his partisan tendency to grovel at the altar of left-of-centre, or quasi-centrist, ideological idols. (As a political agnostic, I’d prefer that he be sceptical towards all sides – equally.) Bearing in mind Freddy’s bien-pensant takes and frequent pearl-clutching, he feels like a bad ... more
I enjoy the content, but the advertisements are out of control. “Sorry for the interruption!” … and again, and again, and again. I feel as though I’m experiencing a flash back to 1980’s commercials every few minutes.

Regretfully, I must also agree that Freddy spoils the show with his highly selective tendency to grovel before—and proffer only the most performative of pushbacks against—left-of-centre ideology. (I’d much prefer that he be equally sceptical towards all sides.) Bearing in mind Freddy’s bien-pensant takes and frequent pearl-clutching, he feels like a bad fit for a publication that claims to be heterodox. I’m sure he is a perfe... more
I have to say as a moderately left person (a New England type so fairly if quietly conservative) I don’t agree with a lot in this show. Some of the quests are in fact nuts. But there is a moderation to the host himself that keeps me listening. Plus I’m just curious about other POVs. And I was educated via and very much value the western canon.
Freddie's recent episode on migration and emigration was pretty one-sided and short-sighted. Even if net migration has come done to around 200k, that is still adding a population the size of a small city to our country and its infrastructure every single year, and was enough to create Farage and the Brexit wars throughout the early 2000s. It does not mean the issue is 'done with', as Freddie kept on suggesting - or hoping. Lots of sneers at migration-sceptics in this episode too ("pearl-clutchin... more
