  • Disappointing

I expected more from a NYTimes podcast, but this has been disappointing. For example, in an episode about cleaning, the hosts addressed cleaning up after your pets. Their answers were not researched, not based on expert feedback and they seemed to just repeat whatever antidote they found online. No matter how minor the issue may seem, a responsible journalist would interview experts (pet owners, rescuers, scientists who design household cleaners, etc). The show needs better producers and hosts.

  • So much fluff

Useful info but please, cut the fluff. Example — episode on tools for aging family members first 9 mins were ads and low info chatter.

  • Frustratingly opaque

I don’t understand who wirecutter is supposed to serve. It’s an ad platform disguised as a non-biased review platform.

  • Light on Info

The episode on getting rid of house odors seemed light on information. How did you miss using white vinegar for kitchen smells? Your only advice was open a window.

  • Patronizing and light on substance

I love the Wirecutter website but sadly I do not love this podcast, at all. The hosts sound like they’re work friends who are part of a group at the office I’d rather avoid. The humor is corny and we don’t care about how much you love each other or other NYT writers. The forced camaradie is often cringe inducing. The website content is presented in a straightforward, confident way that is lighthearted but serious about providing relevant, helpful info. But the pod seems to take the longest possi... more

Essential Tools To Stay Organized While Caring for Aging Parents
Q: What are practical entry points for someone new to tech in caregiving?
Start with basic, low-friction solutions such as paper checklists or a shared notes app, and gradually add tools like a digital calendar or a smart speaker as comfort grows, while ensuring discussions about privacy and consent with all involved parties.
Essential Tools To Stay Organized While Caring for Aging Parents
Q: What are some of the recommended tools for scheduling and communication?
The episode highlights the Skylight calendar and Relish Day Hub for scheduling, and suggests simple shared documents like iPhone notes, Google Docs, or Todoist for communication and task sharing among family members and caregivers.
Essential Tools To Stay Organized While Caring for Aging Parents
Q: Why is staying organized so critical for caregivers?
Because adding another person into the caregiving circle expands the number of tasks—medications, meals, appointments, and daily routines—and without a central system, important details can slip through the cracks, potentially impacting health and safety.
Is The New $600 MacBook Neo Actually A Good Deal?
Q: What sacrifices come with the MacBook Neo compared with the standard models?
The MacBook Neo sacrifices power and expandability for affordability, including using an iPhone chip (A18 Pro) instead of an M-series processor and only eight gigabytes of RAM, which can limit multitasking and future-proofing, though it remains suitable for basic tasks and school use.
Is The New $600 MacBook Neo Actually A Good Deal?
Q: How is the iPhone 17e different from the iPhone 17?
The iPhone 17e is similar in many core specs but trims down on camera capabilities (single rear camera and lower-resolution front camera) and omits features like Always-On display and ProMotion, resulting in shorter battery life and a notch instead of a dynamic island, which makes it more affordable but less feature-rich.
