Really enjoy this show- I always learn something interesting. But the main draw for me is the host. In addition to being an engaging interviewer, Robin seems like someone you’d like to hang out with, someone who shows up to dinner with a bottle of top shelf tequila or gin and a pan of banoffee.

Throughly enjoy listening to the podcast and hearing about nature as in so many different walks of life. Would highly recommend his moss skills if you’re ever in a pinch in the woods.

  • Boney rope toss!

This show is great. It’s as good as retrieving a lost arrow from a tree that you had long given up on with a rope and moose bone! Bonus points if you use an accent

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP91: Delivering The Mission ↣ Tudor Caradoc-Davies
Q: What's the right amount of gear for a trip?
You need enough to cover likely conditions, but experience teaches you to refine, share weights with a group, and avoid overpacking by focusing on essential gear and a few trusted flies.
EP91: Delivering The Mission ↣ Tudor Caradoc-Davies
Q: Do you tie your own gear?
Yes, I do, though not as much as I used to; I've built my own arrows and bows and enjoy the hands-on aspect of tying flies as a deep part of the craft.
EP91: Delivering The Mission ↣ Tudor Caradoc-Davies
Q: What did you show them in that pitch? Did you have a visual?
We showed a PDF of our first issue, about 80-90% done, including a cover shot from Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, which helped brands see the direction and energy we planned, and they jumped on board.
EP96: Pursuing The Perfect Fly ↣ Raymond Mutemeri: From Zimbabwe to S.Africa
Q: Can you describe a typical teaching moment and the most common beginner mistakes?
Common mistakes include not finishing the fly properly with a whip finish, which ruins the fly; he emphasizes practicing whip finishes by hand and building a strong foundation before adding materials.
EP96: Pursuing The Perfect Fly ↣ Raymond Mutemeri: From Zimbabwe to S.Africa
Q: What sparked your move to South Africa, and how did it affect your career?
Economic instability in Zimbabwe and currency issues pushed him to move to South Africa, where he joined Mavungana Fly Fishing and expanded his teaching and shop-based work, growing his career.
