  • Problem with information being inaccurate

Most recent episode the presenter materially misunderstood what happens when you make a charitable donation with gift aid as a higher rate taxpayer. The charity does not receive your 40% tax. Gift Aid is a fixed 25% boost on your donation only. Higher rate taxpayers are able to claim the difference in tax on Self Assessment.

This is just one of a series of major errors by presenters who don’t necessarily have any experience or have not researched properly. Not good enough guys

  • Just awful

The more I listen to which podcasts the more I worry about how awful and under researched their podcasts are. The latest one about bank switching if so full of errors and untruths just seemed like 3 clueless wonders not understanding what they are telling about. And this seems to be repeated week after week.

  • Topics are good but the narrative is vague and general and usually finished off with "get professional advice". Martin Lewis gives much better guidance.

  • Balance

Why so obviously politically bias? Why is it not possible to give a even handed assessment of the pros and cons of political offerings on tax?

Q: Why do so many people love premium bonds?
The excitement and emotional aspect of the draws, plus sentimental value from gifts and family connections, keep people engaged even when the odds are modest.

Q: Josh, what makes someone a great value provider?
A great-value provider offers solid value without CFDs, balancing fees, available assets, and customer support, with reasonable ongoing costs whether you have a small or large portfolio.

Q: Josh, what are WRPs and who are our WRPs this year?
WRPs are the Which? Recommended Providers; this year they are AJ Bell, InvestEngine, and Scottish Widows, with detailed notes on why they earned the badge.
We reveal the best investment platforms in the UK
Q: Okay, couple of questions from me then. Do you think this will make stocks and shares ISAs more attractive for investors?
Yes, the goal is to shift people from cash accounts into investing, but only if they can afford it and have a safety net; it's about encouraging prudent, long-term participation rather than a quick windfall.
Car finance mis-selling scandal: you could be owed hundreds of pounds
Q: What caused the mis-selling in car finance and why is it only recently being addressed?
Historically, dealers could earn significant commissions by marking up finance, often without clearly informing customers, which led to higher costs for buyers. The FCA has banned several practices and is mandating redress, while the compensation scheme is being rolled out to help affected consumers.
