  • False claims are never good for progress.

The a claim made during EP75 - Sr. VP on Chris Howell From Veolia: On Recycling Wind Turbine Blades & A Circular Economy on August 25, 2021 is absolutely ridiculous and not true. The comment that this complex problem is one that to quote the podcast at 3:57 “And it’s one of those problems that can only be dealt with by a large organization that has the mass and the and the cash and the infrastructure to to to tackle to to to tackle a problem that large.” This is definitely not true, Veolia might... more

WindQuest Advisors on Repowering and Rising O&M Costs
Q: Why is SME involvement important in TSA/SMA negotiations?
SMEs bring critical technical and market insights that help tailor contract language to actual operating needs, reducing long-term risk and ensuring protections cover real-world issues from warranty through service.
WindQuest Advisors on Repowering and Rising O&M Costs
Q: What should operators consider at end-of-warranty when moving to service agreements?
Operators should ensure the defect and warranty language in the TSA flows into the SMA, so warranty coverage does not shrink in the transition and so serial defects are properly addressed with clear caps and coverage.
WindQuest Advisors on Repowering and Rising O&M Costs
Q: How do tariffs impact TSA negotiations and who bears the risk?
Tariffs are a fluid risk; adders are used to reflect current tariffs, but who bears the risk depends on the PPA and contract structure. Fleet-wide sourcing can help mitigate tariffs, but the risk sharing is highly project-specific.
WindQuest Advisors on Repowering and Rising O&M Costs
Q: How should buyers approach pre-negotiation and what should be clarified before redlines?
Buyers should understand the offer thoroughly, including delivery rates and times, project fit, price relative to PPAs and tariffs, and whether price is fixed or indexed, to establish a strong baseline before negotiating any redlines.
WindQuest Advisors on Repowering and Rising O&M Costs
Q: What are the fundamental functions of turbine supply agreements (TSAs) and how do they operate?
TSAs secure the purchase and delivery of turbines, typically negotiated over about a year with deliveries planned well before installation; they set terms for price, delivery, and risk allocation, forming the backbone before any operational decisions.
