  • A {MUST} listen

Hallie’s passion for all things myo, TOTS, and PFDs is contagious!!! She shares the evidence that most of us (SLPs) didn’t know existed because of outdated teachings and practices from grad school. She uses both her personal and professional experience and is so relatable!

  • The most valuable resource for parents navigating TOTs and OMDs

After a year of my baby not sleeping more than an hour or two at a time, I finally found Hallies Podcast when she was a guest on another podcast I follow. She talked about the red flags of sleep issues, and I finally felt like it all made sense. I’m so grateful for the educational resource that this podcast is, because it made me a much more informed parent, and I was able to effectively advocate for the care my child needs. I was dismissed by numerous well meaning providers, but now, with the i... more

  • Always a great listen!

As a provider in this space, I appreciate the quality and content of each episode. Hallie keeps things fun while also delving into the technical without losing flow. I like hearing about myo and feeding from so many perspectives and I enjoy the atmosphere of sharing and collaboration. I highly recommend to new and seasoned practitioners as well as parents who are trying to navigate myofunctional concerns for their families. Keep it up, Hallie!

  • So informative, up-to-date, and spot on!

I love Hallie’s podcast, it’s truly one of my favorites! She always encourages parents and professionals to get to the root cause, which is often but not always a tongue restriction. She preaches a team approach to best help her clients and those who are listening to the podcast reach their fullest potential. I just want to say “Amen” like every two minutes when I’m listening, it’s just so good! I’m very thankful she puts the time and energy into this endeavor because it’s a ton of work! Thanks ... more

  • A must-listen podcast!

I can’t sing Hallie’s praises enough! She is a phenomenal clinician who is bringing so much needed education to the world of pediatric feeding! Every one of her podcast episodes is enlightening and invigorating to me as a provider in this field, and also as a mom to three kids who’ve had their own TOTs journeys and a husband with an OMD. Definitely give her episodes a listen!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Your CFY Doesn’t Prepare You for Feeding Therapy (And What Actually Does)
Q: What changed for you after discovering Feed The Peds and taking related training?
The training helped me see the bigger picture of typical vs atypical development, provided a clear framework for assessment and treatment, and gave me practical tools I could apply immediately, which rebuilt my confidence and motivation.
Why Your CFY Doesn’t Prepare You for Feeding Therapy (And What Actually Does)
Q: Could you share a bit about your early career experience and what your CFY looked like?
I described how my CFY was challenging and often overwhelming due to being the only SLP on-site, limited direct supervision, and performing with complex feeding cases without immediate mentorship; eventually I found more supportive settings and discovered the value of advocating for myself and seeking collaborative environments.
Dr. Richard Baxter on How to Know If a Tongue Tie Is Really the Problem
Q: How do you decide when to release a tongue-tie in a child who presents with multiple symptoms but normal appearance?
Focus on functional impact and a comprehensive evaluation—look at feeding, sleep, breathing, speech, and overall development rather than appearance alone; if several symptoms align with a potential functional restriction, consider a release with proper follow-up.
How My Son’s Down Syndrome Diagnosis Changed Me as a Feeding Therapist
Q: What advice would you give to a feeding therapist who's on the fence about starting their own private practice?
Beef up your knowledge to gain confidence, find your niche, and start slowly if needed. The private-practice journey is backed by ongoing learning, mentorship, and real-world impact with families. The return on investment is meaningful when you're aligned with your mission.
How My Son’s Down Syndrome Diagnosis Changed Me as a Feeding Therapist
Q: Has anything shifted for you personally since becoming a mom to a baby with additional needs?
Yes, I've experienced grief and gratitude simultaneously. It changed how I view families and the work we do, reinforcing the need for grace, individualized care, and advocacy within medical settings.
