  • Wish I could hear more from guests.

Excellent podcast, covers a wide range of topics with something for every parent in any stage. My only complaint is that out of a 15 minute podcast, only 5 minutes are given to the world-class guests they have on. No offense to the hosts, but I’d rather hear more from the experts you’ve invited.

  • Building up the church by building up the family

My mom listened to Focus on the Family when I was growing up and I remember I liked listening with her, even when I was a rebellious teenager. I am so thankful for all the Biblical insight and practical advice for raising our family to have a Biblical perspective and world view. Thank you for all you do!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Get Outside and Enjoy It
Q: How can families start incorporating outdoor time given rising screen use and stress in kids?
Begin with small, regular sessions (even 15-20 minutes), make it a family rhythm, and integrate prayer, journaling, and observation to connect kids with creation.
Get Outside and Enjoy It
Q: Can you describe the benefits of nature and the research backing them up?
Nature supports mental and emotional health, reduces anxiety and depression, and provides a larger sense of perspective; research links activity in nature with improved brain function and mood.
Have Dinners Together
Q: How did the church challenge families to eat together, and what was the response?
The church invited families to commit to shared meals as a practice of connection and discipleship; many responded positively, recognizing the meal as a meaningful time to talk and bond.
If Your Child Sees Something Inappropriate
Q: Well, what's your best response if and probably when your child encounters online porn?
Focus on calmness, compassionate dialogue, and a collaborative plan. Acknowledge the challenge, avoid panic, discuss healthier alternatives, and remind them you love them while guiding them toward accountability and practical steps to regain trust.
When a Physical or Mental Health Challenge is Serious
Q: First, do I tell my child or children, I've got this diagnosis? And then second, what does that do if I tell my kids?
You start with age-appropriate information, reassure them that you love them, and explain what you are doing to get help. As children get older, you can share more details and discuss treatment plans, so they understand you're taking care of yourself and them.
