  • Wish I could hear more from guests.

Excellent podcast, covers a wide range of topics with something for every parent in any stage. My only complaint is that out of a 15 minute podcast, only 5 minutes are given to the world-class guests they have on. No offense to the hosts, but I’d rather hear more from the experts you’ve invited.

  • Building up the church by building up the family

My mom listened to Focus on the Family when I was growing up and I remember I liked listening with her, even when I was a rebellious teenager. I am so thankful for all the Biblical insight and practical advice for raising our family to have a Biblical perspective and world view. Thank you for all you do!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

When a Physical or Mental Health Challenge is Serious
Q: First, do I tell my child or children, I've got this diagnosis? And then second, what does that do if I tell my kids?
You start with age-appropriate information, reassure them that you love them, and explain what you are doing to get help. As children get older, you can share more details and discuss treatment plans, so they understand you're taking care of yourself and them.
For Those Raising a Child with Special Needs
Q: What concrete steps can a church take to be more welcoming and supportive?
Create buddy-to-family support, provide sensory-friendly tools (noise-reducing headphones, fidgets), offer targeted inclusion programs like reverse inclusion, and ensure volunteers are prepared to assist without singling out families.
For Those Raising a Child with Special Needs
Q: What can a new parent do to help out if they have a child with special needs?
Lead with empathy, educate yourself about the child's needs, ask how you can help, and show up consistently with grace and patience.
If Your Child’s Faith is Deconstructing
Q: What does it mean to deconstruct your faith in practical terms for a family?
It's a process of examining inherited beliefs, asking whether they hold up to personal experience and evidence, and possibly rebuilding faith in a way that is authentic and reflective of the Bible. It isn't just about doubt; it's about maturity and discernment.
How Prayer Can Reset Your Mind
Q: What are the essential components of prayer in the home?
Praise, gratitude, and requests framed within a relationship with God, emphasizing trust and dependence rather than just asking for help.
