After receiving the book, the three Ravens podcast stood out to me due to its range of folklore from different counties and the history behind them. I also enjoyed how Eleanor and Martin delivered a humorous, entertaining and educational performance while on the podcast; discussing a variety of topics along with allowing their listeners to get involved. Examples of this include card competitions and people sharing their spooky stories to be read out on the podcast.

I came for the folklore and stayed for the expressive readings. It was an Autumn evening, wondering the local woods, that I came across an impenatrable wall of bracken. Finding no way round,I tried to double back and realised I had taken several wrong turns and was hopelessly lost as the forest started to darken. Searching my pockets, I was relieved to find that not only had I remembered to pack a torch, a packet of 'original' toffees and half a pheasant, but that I had also downloaded several p... more
Having discovered this podcast in mid 2025 I have just about caught up working my way through the back catalogue. What can I say? It’s just perfect. A mixture of spooky, entertaining and historical and just generally well written and researched. Suits my niche collections of interests to a tea!!! Thank you Martin and Eleanor
Wow! I am in such awe of your research on all these episodes, but the way you cut through the tangle of lore and rubbish that clouds this particular topic and at the same time managing to bring in the wide sweep of philosophical thought and occult practice relative to the development of ancient Christianity and the endeavours of the Renaissance is just jaw dropping. Bravo!
Am slowly catching up on back issues since Candlemas when I emerged blinking from the 15 Century.

Delightful podcast! The regional history and folklore are very well researched, and the storytelling is beautiful and immersive. I also greatly appreciate their commitment to avoid using AI. Generative AI is a scourge on the environment and the arts. This decision has made one of my favourite podcasts even better.

A lore-forward show that blends history, folklore, and place-based storytelling. Episodes frequently center on English counties (and, more recently, Welsh counties) through a mix of historical context, mythic interpretation, and field-reconstructions, with frequent Local Legends interviews that ground fantastical tales in archival research. The hosts' banter, in-depth research, and recurring deep dives into ghosts, saints, and legends create a welcoming, curious atmosphere that appeals to listeners who crave texture, place, and culture. Noteworthy is the strong emphasis on local heritage, a robust catalog of bonus series (including Bestiary, Forgotten Melodies, and Magus), and ongoing audience engagement through Patreon, live tours, and a L... more
