Q: If there was one piece of advice you'd have to give yourself when you were just getting started in the sport, what would it be?
Probably just not worry about it. It's going to be what it's going to be. Yeah, it's not that deep.
Ep. 161 - The Heir to the Throne of Oregon 5A XC Dominance: The Rise of #2 Oregon 5A XC Returner Ty Cirino
Q: Do you think that your approach to dealing with setbacks now is a lot more mature?
It's definitely changed a lot; I've learned the importance of letting your body rest and recover.
Ep. 161 - The Heir to the Throne of Oregon 5A XC Dominance: The Rise of #2 Oregon 5A XC Returner Ty Cirino
Q: How do you kind of not let the setbacks in the early season troubles get to you?
It takes a lot of mental power to convince yourself that it's not actually as big of a setback as it might seem.
Ep. 153 - From NXN Champ To Breakout Freshman NCAA Season— The Rise of Wake Forest’s JoJo Jourdon
Q: What piece of advice would you give yourself when you were just starting in the sport?
Have fun. It's the biggest part of the sport.
Ep. 153 - From NXN Champ To Breakout Freshman NCAA Season— The Rise of Wake Forest’s JoJo Jourdon
Q: How do you adjust to that bigger time gap, knowing that it's not just come back next week and brush it off?
I give myself 12 to 24 hours to be disappointed and then I just get over it. It's about working hard during the training before the next meet.
