So you’re not going to give Trump any credit for stopping the war in

Israel? You have spent enough time bashing him!

  • Not Shortwave

    Update:

Reduced to 2 stars for the following reason: at the end of every show the producer, Dan, now states “you have the look even harder <for content> these days due to EU and US prohibition on media.”

This is categorically untrue. Dan regularly plays Sputnik (Voice of Russia), Voice of Cuba and other authoritarian-controlled mandated content from countries at the bottom of the freedom of press index. These countries broadcast what they are told to by government security agencies. These cou... more

  • Not Shortwave

This is a review of podcasts worldwide, rather than programmes received on shortwave. In addition, it’s often a difficult listen. The host lives in California off-grid and is well educated on human-induced climate change, and so excerpts of world effects of this are welcome.

The majority of the programming is alt right wing commentators and dodgy country propaganda output. If people don’t have the intellectual faculties to dig into who is speaking, they could be fooled by a lot of this garbag... more

  • Good resource!

This podcast is a wonderful way to get news from several different sources. The shortwave frequencies and broadcast times is a nice bonus.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Shortwave Report May 29, 2026
Q: From your perspective, how might the EU respond to sanctions and broader policy pressures in light of EU member states taking steps against individuals involved in the incident?
There is growing momentum for sanctions, but agreement across all member states is tricky; the EU could push for broader measures like arms-export restrictions and even reevaluate trade and cooperation with settlements to demonstrate a firm stance.
The Shortwave Report May 29, 2026
Q: What was your first reaction when you saw the Ben Gvir video, and what does it reveal about the dynamics within the Israeli government?
I was appalled by the behavior, but not surprised given the patterns of the leadership; it underscores how hard-right positions are reflected in government actions and rhetoric, influencing international perceptions and policy moves.
The Shortwave Report June 5, 2026
Q: How pivotal is the Colombian election for the country's policy direction and its foreign alignments?
It is extremely pivotal because the outcome will shape whether Colombia remains on a path of social and economic reforms and negotiations with armed groups, or shifts toward a security-first, pro-US alignment that could redefine regional dynamics.
The Shortwave Report May 15, 2026
Q: How significant is it that Saudi Arabia is now reportedly carrying out direct strikes inside Iran?
Giorgio Cafiero notes this marks a notable escalation with potential to alter Gulf dynamics, suggesting Saudi and UAE actions reflect calculated moves within a broader strategic contest involving the US and Iran, while signaling possible shifts in regional power projection.
