  • Makes you feel like you’re hanging out with friends.

I started at Ep 1 (I highly recommend it if you want the true short box lore) and have loved every moment of it, it’s truly like hanging out with a group of friends talking about some of the coolest things around. They’re informative and funny and constantly improving. If you like comics, conventions, or anything of the nerd culture this is the podcast to sit back and hang out with.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Erica Schultz keeps it 100% real about working in comics. An interview about writing, X-23, and making history with Spawn
Q: How did you get on Todd McFarlane's radar for Rat City and Gunslinger Spawn?
Thomas Healy connected Erica via Joe Prado at New York Comic-Con; after pitching a fresh original concept for Rat City, she had a series of conversations with Thomas and Todd, submitting pitches ahead of calls, and ultimately secured the gig by aligning her ideas with the Spawn universe while offering a clear personal angle (veterans and PTSD).
Joshua Williamson is mapping the future of comics. An interview about Iron Man, G.I. Joe, and the summer of Superboy
Q: How do you keep multiple ongoing universes from bleeding together?
He follows a disciplined process: dedicating separate weeks to different projects, hearing the voices of each character, and maintaining distinct tonal approaches so Clark Kent and Tony Stark don't collide in the same scenes.
From Ghostface to Spawn to Abe Lincoln: An Interview with writer Matthew Rosenberg
Q: What inspired the creator-owned sci-fi series If Destruction Be Our Lot and the animatronic Abe Lincoln?
Inspiration came from Rosenberg walking in his New York neighborhood, imagining an animatronic Abe Lincoln as the last figure on Earth, and then developing a two-genre concept that merges crime and ghost story with character-driven robotics.
From Ghostface to Spawn to Abe Lincoln: An Interview with writer Matthew Rosenberg
Q: What is it like being on the phone with Todd McFarlane?
Rosenberg describes the conversations as extensive and collaborative, with deep discussions about the direction of Spawn and a back-and-forth process that stretched over months.
From Ghostface to Spawn to Abe Lincoln: An Interview with writer Matthew Rosenberg
Q: What did Todd McFarlane say on the phone when he asked you to write Spawn?
Todd asked directly if Rosenberg wanted to take over Spawn, leading to long exploratory conversations, a pitch process, and multiple rewrites before landing on an approach he felt aligned with.
