  • Makes you feel like you’re hanging out with friends.

I started at Ep 1 (I highly recommend it if you want the true short box lore) and have loved every moment of it, it’s truly like hanging out with a group of friends talking about some of the coolest things around. They’re informative and funny and constantly improving. If you like comics, conventions, or anything of the nerd culture this is the podcast to sit back and hang out with.

Hyperspecific Things About Comic Books That We Love with David Harper & Brad Gullickson
Q: What's going on in the world of your respective platforms?
Brad describes the stacks video experiments and the growth of their Stacks series, while David outlines ongoing work with Off-Panel and Sketch, including upcoming sketchbooks and interviews.
Dave Johnson explains his "billboard" philosophy, Soviet Superman, and designing 100 covers for 100 Bullets (Collective Con 2026 Panel)
Q: What is the balance between traditional media and digital tools in your studio, and what do you absolutely need to have in the studio?
He emphasizes traditional inking on paper with digital color, uses specific tools he loves (notably a cherished Japanese pen), and notes that digital color became essential because it offered reliable, controllable results, while the core drawing remains tactile and hand-anchored.
Dave Johnson explains his "billboard" philosophy, Soviet Superman, and designing 100 covers for 100 Bullets (Collective Con 2026 Panel)
Q: And I'm curious, when you were tasked initially with putting a hammer and sickle on Superman's chest for Red Sun, was there ever a moment of like, oh man, I hope the internet does not tear me apart about this?
Johnson describes leaning into the chaos with a purpose-driven design, framing Superman as a propaganda tool for Russia rather than a singular hero, which resonated with audiences and sparked broader discussion about interpretation and context.
Rapper Ben Reilly reveals the origin of HEROMAN, Spider-Man influences, and SAVE! The Album
Q: How did Stan Lee narrate the album, and what was the process?
Ben wanted Stan Lee's narration for Save, created a script, and used skilled voice actors via a casting process on Backstage to deliver the narration that anchors the concept.
Rapper Ben Reilly reveals the origin of HEROMAN, Spider-Man influences, and SAVE! The Album
Q: What does Hero Man represent for you as a character and artist?
Hero Man represents an everyday person becoming a hero, a symbolic camouflaged identity that lets Ben explore trauma and aspiration through music and visuals, much like a comic book origin story.
