#72 - The Beauty of Being a Home Gardener | Elisabeth Kingman [Garden Girl/Muddy Boots]

#72 - The Beauty of Being a Home Gardener | Elisabeth Kingman [Garden Girl/Muddy Boots]
Q: How did you decide to turn Muddy Boots into a long-running podcast, and what keeps you going?
The relationship with Keith, audience engagement through monthly Q&As, and the tangible feedback from listeners who see their gardens improve keep the show going; sponsorship and consistent topic planning also helped sustain momentum.
#72 - The Beauty of Being a Home Gardener | Elisabeth Kingman [Garden Girl/Muddy Boots]
Q: What are some of the common issues home gardeners face and how do you approach troubleshooting them?
The recurring problems usually trace back to soil and site preparation, with many issues stemming from rushing planting and not building a solid soil base. The solution is to focus on soil health, prepare properly, and then address plant choices and maintenance through guided, educational Q&As.
#47 - Great Pastures To Great People | Nick Holliday [Belvedere Farm]
Q: What does it mean to be a regenerative farmer in your eyes, and how would you tackle that in practice?
It means farming in a way that builds soil, biodiversity, and community over the long term, rather than extracting value in the short term. In practice, it involves improving soil organic matter through diverse pastures, rotational grazing, cover crops, and integrating animals and crops to create a resilient system that can feed people locally.
