  • Great for non-runners too!

This is a very positive and encouraging podcast that is engaging even for us non-runners. I find the stories interesting, as they involve races and competitions, many in the province I live in, that I’ve never heard of. It’s a friendly motivator to get out and explore trails and towns, even if I’m not running a marathon (or a 100 mile?! Wow). Cheers!

  • Saskatchewan is the best place to become a runner!

Love the concept of this podcast and as previous fellow Sask runner where I got my start on gravel roads into the sunrises, it’s about time you put these incredibly dedicated people on the map! I love showing up to mountain races with Sask runners who always turn heads with their performance because you are often under estimated but always the friendliest, funnest and some of the fastest ultra runners! Rep Sask hard! Love where your fitness journey started and where it evolved to!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jeff Dudar
Q: How did the Beaver Flat 50 come to be, and what were the early challenges?
The idea originated from training in the area near Swift Current and Saskatchewan Landing, sparked by conversations about creating a truly Saskatchewan-based ultramarathon. Early challenges included designing a 50K loop, selecting a course that wouldn't repeat itself, and navigating park permits and logistics, all of which were gradually resolved through collaboration with the park and local volunteers.
Flemming Sondergaard
Q: How did you adjust training after hiring your coach, and what impact did it have on your performance?
Hiring Dave Stevens brought a structured plan emphasizing longer long runs, shorter, sharper tapers, and targeted downhill work. This change helped optimize muscular endurance and nutrition strategy, enabling better pacing and resilience in ultramarathons like Western States and UTMB.
GMS Queen City Marathon Preview With Interim Race Director Ashley King
Q: What makes this event special for families and first-time runners?
She describes family-focused aspects like the mini marathons for kids, the expo, and inclusive categories that welcome newcomers, along with the supportive volunteer network.
GMS Queen City Marathon Preview With Interim Race Director Ashley King
Q: How did you come to be the interim race director for the 25th anniversary?
Ashley explains that she's been on the organizing committee for eight years, stepped into the interim role to lead the milestone year, and emphasizes the support from long-time volunteers and the broader community.
Chris Tetlock
Q: Tell us about Lost Our Marbles and why you chose to direct it as a fundraiser?
Lost Our Marbles is a charity-focused indoor ultra with three, six, and twelve-hour events designed to bring together runners of all levels to support the Canadian Mental Health Association in Regina, with the goal of inclusivity over competition and a celebration of community.
