  • Lame Podcast

This couple doesn’t seem to have actually visited most all of the destinations covered in their shows. They just use AI and google searches which often hallucinate and provide misinformation. So you won’t get any actual insight or really useful information on the destinations. They partner often with local guests which often don’t provide much information either. They also never tell you the bad things or cons about a place. Everything is always just wonderful and rosey and we all know everyplac... more

  • Not for me

I tried this podcast for potential trip planning. The style of the podcast is what doesn’t work for me. It’s more like “hopping down the bunny trail” with the constant off topic commentary. Good luck with your endeavor, it’s just not for me.

  • It’s ok

Facts aren’t always straight. They research what they say as they say it. By the way. Not a single self respecting Mainer says BAH-HABAH. ITS INSULTING.

Episode 130: Discover Knoxville, Tennessee: Sunsphere Views, Southern Food, & Smoky Mountain Adventure
Q: What elevator pitch would you give to someone visiting Knoxville for a weekend instead of just passing through to the Smokies?
The city offers something for everyone: walkable downtown with southern hospitality, art and maker scenes, outdoor adventures on the Tennessee River, rich history spanning hundreds of years, and an impressive culinary landscape from biscuits to artisan ice creams, placing Knoxville as a well-rounded weekend destination within easy reach of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Episode 130: Discover Knoxville, Tennessee: Sunsphere Views, Southern Food, & Smoky Mountain Adventure
Q: Food. You guys have an amazing food scene. Is there any type of specific cuisine that Knoxville is known for?
Knoxville doesn't have one singular signature dish; it runs the culinary gamut from casual Southern fare and meat-and-three spots to Michelin-recognized restaurants, including Appalachian-focused JC Holdway and diverse options like Yacine's Falafel House, plus regional specialties such as Petro and a Cherry Coke born from the 1982 World's Fair.
Episode 127: Explore Moundsville, WV: Burial Mounds, Haunted Penitentiaries, and Appalachian Charm
Q: And I'm curious about the shuttle program for RVers—how does that work, and what makes it convenient for visitors staying in Grandview?
Craig explains a two-hour driving tour on Fridays and Saturdays, plus a flexible hop-on service on other days that can take visitors anywhere around the campground and hotels, with an option to handle private requests; the shuttle is designed to be convenient for day trips and even light pub-crawls, avoiding driving concerns for visitors.
Episode 127: Explore Moundsville, WV: Burial Mounds, Haunted Penitentiaries, and Appalachian Charm
Q: So maybe walk us through how Moundsville has evolved over time, from the Indian era to modern day tourism and all the things that you have going on now.
Craig outlines Marshall County's growth: historic industries like Marks Toy Factory and Faustoria Glass, proximity to the Ohio River, the transition to a CVB in 2015 supported by new hotels and tax funding, and the development of Grandview Park with its campgrounds, a water park, and a robust shuttle program to keep RV visitors engaged and comfortable.
Episode 127: Explore Moundsville, WV: Burial Mounds, Haunted Penitentiaries, and Appalachian Charm
Q: Gotcha. I understand you have a big festival there every year, maybe a couple. The Mountainville Heritage Festival seems prominent—can you tell us more about that festival and any other notable events?
Craig describes the Mountainville Heritage Festival as part of reviving Elizabeth Town and Jefferson Avenue, with streets closed for a craft show and vendors along Jefferson Avenue near the penitentiary; the festival showcases local history and commerce, often alongside activities inside the penitentiary and related historical sites.
