  • Just a question. . . .

    I have a question for you. . . . .

I am a barrel racer and my horse has a special diet so he can’t eat molasses and hay so most of his diet is based on alfalfa..... I can’t seem to find a brand of healthy horse treats, so I was wondering what would you recommend for my sweetie? (Horse) love y’all.also i hope y’all make more episodes.

  • A great and fun way to spend my commute!

The Ride is a very innovative idea for a podcast, and it’s great getting to hear articles from the magazine years past that I missed. It’s a great chance to learn about people and topics that I otherwise would never have known about. As someone constantly looking to expand my knowledge on everything horses, this podcast is a nice addition to my go-to list.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 128: Kody Ward and Ranch Sorting
Q: What misconceptions do beginners have about ranch sorting, and what should they understand about the sport?
Many think it's just chaotic yelling and rough handling, but the sport is increasingly specialized with an emphasis on education, technique, and horseman ship. It's a clear, clock-based, team-focused activity with less politics and more measurable outcomes.
Ep. 128: Kody Ward and Ranch Sorting
Q: For someone new to ranch sorting, what would you tell them to get started next week?
Start by watching instructional and competition videos, find a trainer or RSNC-recommended coach, and then attend beginner classes at local shows to observe and ask questions. Don't be afraid to start with an ordinary horse; education and practice are more important than starting with a expensive prospect.
Ep. 131: Inside Equine Reproduction with Dr. Ben Espy
Q: From a vet's perspective, what should mare owners consider when deciding to breed?
Owners should evaluate the mare's history, genetics, and how breeding fits their financial and logistical realities, including the costs of semen, surrogates, embryo transfer, and long-term care, as well as the expected return on investment.
Ep. 130 Amy Wheatley on Life Inside the Ranch Sorting Pen
Q: What drew you to tell these stories on the ground at events like the World Finals and RSNC shows?
She explained that teaching and observing from the floor allows her to see the unfolding decisions riders make, the pressures they feel, and the human moments that make ranch sorting compelling, which she captions and shares through Sorted Out Productions.
Ep. 130 Amy Wheatley on Life Inside the Ranch Sorting Pen
Q: You started by telling us a little about how your horse journey began.
Amy described growing up in Georgia, moving from early experiences with Quarter Horse crosses to fox hunting and three‑day eventing, before discovering sorting and eventually becoming a key voice in coverage and storytelling for the sport.
