  • Jim Gherity

I quit following Three Martini Lunch podcast because of Jim but now I’m dropping Ricochet because of the comments about the 25th amendment Jim made.

  • Talking about something important

History is something that matters, and I was heartened to hear of Eli’s strong interest in history and the way things used to be. We have been here before. Now I have to go find that AI to compose my own song! Good luck to you all.

  • Chicks on the Right is a travesty

Well, as far as boot-licking cheerleading goes, Chicks on the Right is top notch. When it comes to thoughtful analysis and honest discussion, it is a travesty of a dumpster fire. If a person wanted this much persecution complex and nonsensical gibberish, they should go straight to the source of Trump’s own statements.

  • Camel-ah? (WTHGO)

Aug 22, 2024 & conservatives still insist on this. Why do conservatives insist on just being super petty? It’s either that or you’re just very well paid stupid people. Or racist. Is it racism? Whatever it is, you’re petty and small.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Ricochet Podcast: If It Pleads, It Leads
Q: What do you think the Democratic establishment should do in response to the DSA's influence?
The guest and hosts suggest that the establishment should acknowledge the energy behind progressive movements while maintaining core constitutional and institutional safeguards, avoiding wholesale purges of reformers, and focusing on disciplined, transparent policymaking.
Parsing Immigration Policy: Why Immigration Has Become France’s Defining Political Issue
Q: Could you give us a thumbnail version of what the immigration situation in France looks like?
The guest provides demographic data: about 12% first-generation immigrants, 12% second-generation descendants, totaling around 25% of the population with immigrant background over two generations, and notes the high concentration of African immigration with distinct fertility patterns and long-term social implications.
The Radio Free Hillsdale Hour: Life in the Reagan Administration
Q: How did you handle the Yellowstone crisis and what lessons did you take from that experience for future leadership?
We prioritized protecting infrastructure and public safety, used available resources (including 9,000 soldiers and multiple fire trucks), and avoided dramatic measures like widening fire lines, recognizing that some crises require restraint and careful, data-driven decisions over impulsive actions.
The Radio Free Hillsdale Hour: Life in the Reagan Administration
Q: What was your approach to environmental policy under Reagan, particularly in contrast to Carter's administration, and how did you balance environmental protection with economic interests?
We pursued a balanced approach that treated the environment as one of several important considerations, avoiding a binary choice between environmentalism and economic growth, and we sought to protect critical environmental matters while also safeguarding economic needs.
The Radio Free Hillsdale Hour: Life in the Reagan Administration
Q: You describe different pathways to cabinet positions and how your own path developed; can you summarize how leadership opportunities were presented to you and what factors influenced your ascent?
Leadership opportunities arose either through personal relationships, network connections, or demonstrated management ability, and in my case it involved trusted colleagues and a track record of effective leadership, which led to roles such as Undersecretary of Interior and later Secretary of Energy.
