  • Still Riding That Horse

The Aug 11 episode was very good and I liked the different approach of Steve being interviewed. The “Predicting the Subprime Crash” story never gets old, but maybe it’s time to move on. I’d like to hear more about your take on the current and future macro issues and investment opportunities. That’s where we will make or lose money.

  • Intellectually honest

Hearing someone that ran/runs large investment funds talk about Marx and his critiques (he was an astute political observer) in a thoughtful way is the mark of an actual intellectual. Steve, I would recommend an episode on the business plot against FDR and the new deal. It may be relevant. Gen. Butler is one of the most important Americans to ever live.

  • Appreciate Steve’s ability to explain some of the financial jargon

I started listening to this podcast and I also watch on YT, after seeing Steve on a Compound show. I really like how Steve explains financial “stuff” to the non-finance person. I also like how he asks questions to get more detailed explanations from an interviewee. That warms my analytical heart.

Steve Eisman Answers YOUR Investing Questions | The Real Eisman Playbook Episode 23
Q: Do you allow a company's past mistake to influence your investment decisions today?
I wrestled with this for years, but I eventually bought Moody's despite their past because the market and management have changed.
Steve Eisman Answers YOUR Investing Questions | The Real Eisman Playbook Episode 23
Q: What advice do you have for someone trying to recover financially over five years?
I would buy the S&P 500 index and invest right now with what you can, no matter how small, but only the money that you can afford.
Steve Eisman Shares the Real Story Behind Predicting the 2008 Crash
Q: Do you think that we could return to that sort of environment, or have we really learned so much that it will not repeat itself?
You know, 30 years from now, could it happen again? Maybe. This administration will certainly allow banks to lever up a little bit more, but within a time frame that matters to us, we're never going back to that.
Steve Eisman Shares the Real Story Behind Predicting the 2008 Crash
Q: How did you feel knowing that this was going to happen? That people would be losing their jobs, people would be losing their homes?
It depends what year you're talking about. 07 was really the implosion of the subprime mortgage market, but the US economy was still okay. I felt that we could talk about it, the subprime mortgage loans were actually unethical, and that Wall Street was involved with it was a travesty. By 08, we knew things were so bad that literally the world could implode at any second.
Tesla vs Waymo: Who Will Win the Robotaxi Race? | The Real Eisman Playbook Ep. 22
Q: Why has Tesla had such a difficult time producing a car at a lower price point?
Although the Model 3 and Model Y have become more affordable, Tesla has struggled to introduce lower-cost vehicles and needs a broader product portfolio to compete effectively.
