Reviews

4.7 out of 5 stars from 15 ratings
  • Valuable insights with too much judgy ESG propaganda

I enjoy this podcast. I have learned a lot and will continue to listen.

I just have to ignore the “if you think don’t EVs are the future you’re a Luddite” holier than thou attitude of the host.

He probably believed oil was dead in 2020 and will be by 2030, and then again in 2050 and will continue being wrong along with the IEA and EIA.

But hey keep dreaming brother, maybe one day you’ll be right!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is the Lithium Market Cycle Close to its Bottom? Paul Lusty of Fastmarkets Believes So
Q: What other materials or trends should we watch beyond lithium?
Cobalt dynamics due to the DRC export ban and Indonesia's new role, and high-purity manganese supply constraints, plus data center energy demand and renewables integration as broader drivers of energy storage needs.
Is the Lithium Market Cycle Close to its Bottom? Paul Lusty of Fastmarkets Believes So
Q: When might we see signs of a market rebalancing?
He suggests a late-next-year to 2027 timeframe for rebalance signals, with the possibility of a 2029-2030 deficit if supply remains constrained or demand grows faster than new capacity.
Is the Lithium Market Cycle Close to its Bottom? Paul Lusty of Fastmarkets Believes So
Q: What do you mean by supply discipline and who needs to be disciplined?
Lusty explains the market is now more diversified and fragmented, making it harder to assign cuts to a single region; discipline will come from cost-curve considerations and project siting, with broader participation needed across producers.
Sulfuric Acid: Understanding its Importance and the Current Disruptions in this Critical Chemical
Q: What happens if a major supply disruption persists—what are the likely short-, medium-, and long-term responses?
In the short term, buyers may pay higher prices and draw down inventories; in the medium term, shifts in sourcing and potential substitution or alternative routes become important; in the long term, changes to ore mixes and mining strategies may reduce sulfuric acid intensity in some processes.
Sulfuric Acid: Understanding its Importance and the Current Disruptions in this Critical Chemical
Q: How are prices determined and what has driven recent price movements?
Prices are largely contract-based and not transparently benchmarked, with spikes driven by geopolitical events (like Iran-related disruptions or Strait of Hormuz developments) rather than pure demand growth; storage levels and regional dynamics also influence pricing.
