  • Middling and Mercenary

All these guys seem to do is 1) report the hype and then 2) hedge their bets. The pod is simply two guys riding the coattails of entertainment properties far bigger than they are.

  • Personable, complex, compelling

Adjust Your Tracking , a segment on The Playlist Podcast Network is incisive and interesting. I watched the movie Annihilation that came out earlier this year, felt so-so about the movie, listened to Joe and Eric talk about it, and then felt good to re-see the themes and formal qualities they discussed. It's a discussion in the fullest sense of the word. They talk casually but thoughtfully, often about the "state of the industry," but always for significant reasons. Can't recommend enough for mo... more

  • Avengers Pod

Just listened to the Infinity War pod. It was awful. I mean, truly bad. They had no clue what the heck they were talking about. 👎👎👎 and I’m not saying you have to be a huge fanboy to do a pod in the topic but this was just incorrect statement after incorrect statement. So bad.

  • Like.....

I love you & I love how much you’ve embraced Phantom Thread but dear fellows(s), the deeper voice of this podcast says ‘like’, like every 5 word. It’s almost a relief when the other fellow speaks. With love from somewhere outside America....

  • Great motivational podcast

I'm not especially a sports fan but I like relatable motivational podcasts. Found this podcast by chance and was drawn in to it within the first 30 seconds. It manages to combine motivation with business and the incredible drive that athletes have that can. We all have that drive that can help us make a success of life but some of us have to dig a bit deeper to find it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

‘Cape Fear’ Showrunner Nick Antosca On Javier Bardem’s Monster, Scorsese’s Notes & Finale Spoilers [Bingeworthy Podcast]
Q: Why include Anna and Tom as joint victims of Max's grievance, and what does that do for the audience's sympathy?
The show expands the personal stakes so the audience questions whether privilege and comfort can be truly shielded from consequences, and creates a nuanced dynamic where viewers may still root for Max at times while recognizing his brutality.
Jonathan Tropper & Cassie Pappas On ‘Lucky,’ ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ & The Lost Ronda Rousey ‘Road House’ [Bingeworthy Podcast]
Q: When you're breaking the story, do you think of it as a chase thriller first or a character study first, or something else entirely?
We frame it as a character-first approach, with the father-daughter dynamic driving the stakes, and we balance that with the con-focused plot to keep the audience emotionally invested while staying true to the adaptation goals.
‘Enola Holmes 3’: Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, and Director Philip Barantini On Following ‘Adolescence,’ Eleven’s ‘Stranger Things’ Future, & More [The Discourse Podcast]
Q: How did Malta influence the film's production value and visual scope?
Shooting in Malta allowed the team to preserve architecture and culture on location, enhancing production value and authenticity without drastically altering the setting.
‘Enola Holmes 3’: Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, and Director Philip Barantini On Following ‘Adolescence,’ Eleven’s ‘Stranger Things’ Future, & More [The Discourse Podcast]
Q: What were the musts for Enola and Tewkesbury's journey here in terms of maturity and their relationship?
The producer and actors emphasize maturing the relationship, showing trust and communication rather than relying on the couple's past conflicts, and avoiding cliché romantic plot devices.
‘Enola Holmes 3’: Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, and Director Philip Barantini On Following ‘Adolescence,’ Eleven’s ‘Stranger Things’ Future, & More [The Discourse Podcast]
Q: Was this a way to get away from the oners and do something different technically, or were you not thinking of that when you signed on?
The director explains mixing new technical challenges with the ensemble format; while one part of the project offered the oner-style long take, the overall goal was to push character-driven storytelling within a bigger production.
