Imagine a fact-free propagandist like Kari Lake, but remove all the charisma, replacing it with faux-intellectualism.

    That’s Pete

Sadly, nobody told Pete that Trump killed Voice of America. Regardless, he voted in his first “big boy” election this year and will jump through any hoop to justify Trump 2.0.

When he’s not regurgitating the Washington Examiner (excuse me his “show prep”) he’s reminding his audience that they only have one goal – hate the “leftists”.

Never let facts or that pesky... more

Thank you for everything you do for thus area. And shutting IDIOTS down. All we really have is each other

  • Both sides

I like that Pete doesn’t tell you what to think and will give you the information that he has. He does his research. If it is a developing story he doesn’t pretend that everything is correct and says that it could change. Even though you know which way he leans I find he tries to give you both sides of a story. I also like his sense of humor which can lighten up a serious discussion.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Predictive Betting Markets and NC Election Integrity | Hour 2
Q: What's special about North Carolina's approach?
North Carolina is explicitly legitimizing CFTC-regulated prediction markets, deferring to federal authority and imposing a 6% tax on net trading fee revenues, aimed at creating regulatory certainty without overburdening operators.
Predictive Betting Markets and NC Election Integrity | Hour 2
Q: Explain predictive markets to us.
They are online platforms where people trade contracts based on future events, with prices indicating the probability of the event; contracts settle to $1 if the event happens and $0 if it does not, effectively turning beliefs into tradable data.
Investigating UNC System Academic Journals | Hour 3
Q: So for listeners who may not be familiar with academic publishing, how important is the journal where the researcher is published when evaluating the credibility of the research?
David Bass explains that top-tier journals are highly valued for credibility, while many middle or lower-tier journals vary in rigor; the key is understanding the journal's practices and how they align with transparent methodologies and disclosures.
Opportunity Scholarships. The future of Western NC | Hour 3
Q: How does the Opportunity Scholarship program work and who is it aimed at?
The program began in 2015, expanded eligibility in 2023 to include more families across income levels, with scholarships ranging roughly from $3,600 to over $7,300 based on income and household size. It is designed to provide an educational option for students who are struggling or unsatisfied with their current school, and a majority of funds do not go to the most expensive private schools but rather to religious and lower-tuition options.
State Auditor Dave Boliek | Hour 3
Q: What does this mean for governance in Cary and similar towns across North Carolina?
It highlights the need for stronger reporting, clearer lines of oversight, and more robust checks and balances at the municipal level, ensuring that elected officials and staff act in the taxpayers' best interests and that expenditures pass proper scrutiny.
