  • Great podcast, guests, and host!

Have been a big fan of Turner’s for many years so I was excited to hear about his podcast! Been loving the episodes and amazing guests so far - from the big names like Keith Rabois to the more under the radar operators.

I really enjoyed the episode with Jonathon Barkl, the Co-founder and CEO of AirGarage, and learning about their quick series A. Highly recommend it!

  • Fantastic podcast

I have no way to prove this, but if I had to guess, Turner does more research on his guests than 99.9% of podcast hosts out there. He’s not afraid to get into the nitty gritty so listeners can learn something new. Highly recommend this show.

The Past, Present, and Future of Pre-Seed | Charles Hudson, Precursor
Q: What do LPs care about most when evaluating your fund in the current climate?
LPs care about access to top deals, alignment with market signals (particularly AI), and the ability to generate cash-on-cash returns across the life of the fund. They value a coherent strategy, strong founder support, and a path to exits, rather than just brand or past performance.
The Past, Present, and Future of Pre-Seed | Charles Hudson, Precursor
Q: What is the big strategic distinction you make when evaluating founders for Precursor today?
We balance two tracks: post-idea, pre-product-market-fit founders at sub-$10M valuations with first-time founders needing hands-on support, and repeat founders who still need access but may require different terms. The aim is to back teams with clear problem framing and potential to reach product-market fit, not just a flashy pedigree.
The Past, Present, and Future of Pre-Seed | Charles Hudson, Precursor
Q: How has the definition of pre-seed vs seed evolved over the last decade in your view?
The line has blurred; some pre-seed rounds resemble early seeds or Series A in practice, while many early rounds are justified by the specific product-market fit stage rather than fixed dollar amounts. The important part is hypothesis validation and product-market validation, with pricing and ownership dynamics driving follow-ons and later rounds.
Inside Elbow Grease, NYC's Hands-On Accelerator | Dan Teran, Gutter Capital
Q: What role does AI play in your investment process?
AI plays a limited role in initial founder assessments; the team relies on deep customer discovery, human judgment, and Enneagram-based founder coaching, using AI mainly to organize information and identify gaps rather than to make decisions.
Inside Elbow Grease, NYC's Hands-On Accelerator | Dan Teran, Gutter Capital
Q: How does Elbow Grease differentiate itself from other accelerators?
By being founder-led and deeply operator-focused, maintaining small cohorts, ensuring one-to-one mentorship, and having a physical, shared space where portfolio companies benefit from ongoing proximity to the team and supportive peers.
