I have found a lot of help and wisdom in The Calm Parenting podcast and this one has been really great. Both of my boys have signs of PDA and I’ve been discouraged by the common advice out there- so I love hearing Kirk’s take on it and a different framework beyond just reducing demands and giving in to requests. Thankful for his insight!
I enjoy the Calm Parenting Podcast, so naturally I’m here getting all the help I can, I happen to have a PDA child and husband, so this even helps me understand my partner better. Thank you for putting this out there!
This podcast (and the calm parenting podcast) has honestly been a God send and I don’t say that in a light way. I’ve struggled for so long to find some relatable help specifically for my 3rd child. Kirk nails it on the head everytime and I thank the Lord that these podcasts were sent my way. I’m looking forward to more PDA podcast episodes.
I’ve listened to and bit the financial bullet with calm. It helped me immensely. I always wanted to share my experience with family members, but didn’t know how. I’m not kidding- this 9 minute PDA intro was a catalyst. I shared it with my mom (my kids essential coparent as well) and her immediate response was “well that sounds like my entire family”
No shade, no shame. I did not expect this response at all.
Thank you for once again working to open up dialogue I thought impossible.
This podcast is an answered prayer as well as the Calm Parenting podcast. I knew my son was strong willed but after hearing some of the PDA episodes, his behavior makes more sense. I want him to feel loved and understood and this podcast is providing the insight and tools to support me as I parent him.

Parents and caregivers of children with PDA often turn to practical, empathy-driven strategies that emphasize autonomy, calm communication, and collaborative problem-solving. Episodes frequently explore validating feelings, reframing expectations, and replacing forceful demands with adult-like collaboration, role-playing, and real-life scripts for school, meals, bedtime, and routines. A notable strength is the focus on turning challenging moments into teachable, confidence-building opportunities, with ongoing emphasis on family dynamics, self-care for parents, and scalable tools via a program and community resources. The approach appears to favor sustainable, strengths-based parenting over punitive or permissive extremes, and often encourag... more
