Bro is a cool guy
I can’t say enough about how truly insightful and powerful this podcast is. The stories and issues are truly heartbreaking. Very, very well done
In a world of noise it is always amazing to hear true journalism at its finest. Your team’s investigative skills and abilities is completely off the hook.
This is a great podcast, and such important work. I do wish Urbina’s delivery sounded a little more natural. The many “reflective” pauses between so many words… it’s like… every other… word, is followed by a pause, and… that’s very hard to, listen to.
I loved the first season and was very excited for season 2 but for some reason on season 2 Ian’s narration is incredibly awkward with tons of pauses and this strange stop start speech pattern that didn’t exist at all on season 1. I think this is because he’s reading a script and is not a natural at it. As soon as he’s off script it flows fine but when he’s reading it’s hard to listen and really difficult to concentrate. A real shame as the reporting is exceptional.

A hard-hitting investigative series that ventures to the most unpoliced edges of the world's oceans. Each season centers on powerful, often hidden stories: exploitative labor practices aboard fishing fleets, migrant detention and human rights abuses, and high-stakes maritime crime and salvage. With immersive reporting, the host builds a on-the-ground, risk-aware narrative that puts witnesses, whistleblowers, and affected communities at the center, often illustrating how supply chains, regulation, and geopolitics intersect with everyday consumption of seafood and global commerce. The show stands out for its willingness to place the listener on scene—frequently at the edge of safety—to reveal systemic abuse and the gray areas where law and mo... more
