  • Cheers to new beginnings

I have been a long time fan of the One Thing, both the podcast and the practice. Jay coming back to the helm gives a refreshing look at what it means to dream and to do. So many of my friends are in stages of growth and reinvention - this podcast gives such practical ways to grow slowly and then suddenly into the life we want to imagine. Highly recommend a listen! And even better - a subscribe. :)

  • Lost focus

Prime focus no longer “The One Thing”. Has some good content but definitely changed course after changing host. Sorry but the caliber has never recovered.

Building a Burnout-Proof Business with Mallory Rowan
Q: Hi Mallory, nice to meet you. Tell me a little bit about yourself. Where do you go from here?
Mallory emphasizes separating identity from work, exploring evolving seasons, and building flexible plans (like coaching to courses) to stay engaged without burning out.
The Science of Excellence: How To Master Your Craft, Passion vs. Obsession, The Myth of Balance, and More w/ Brad Stulberg
Q: For those who have not read the book, would you mind defining The Way of Excellence and what we mean by excellence?
Excellence is a blend of two parts: deep involvement and caring for a worthwhile purpose, aligned with one's values and goals, and the pursuit of mastery within that meaningful context. It's not a static state but a continuous path where meaning and skill grow together.
How to Reinvent Yourself: A 4 Step Framework for Starting Over
Q: How should someone start the process without falling into perfectionism or burnout?
Start with a small, imperfect step—begin with a simple journaling habit or a single, doable experiment—and gradually scale as you gain clarity and proof that the path fits you, not because you must be perfect from day one.
How to Reinvent Yourself: A 4 Step Framework for Starting Over
Q: Which entry point point makes the most sense for someone who is stuck and wants to try again?
The recommended entry point is pausing to reflect, then accepting reality, before designing a small, defined experiment to test a new path for 30–60 days—so you can learn what fits your strengths without forcing a drastic, immediate overhaul.
High-Stakes Communication: How to Negotiate Confidently, Ask Smarter Questions, and Build Influence with Phil Jones
Q: Can you give a practical example of a moment to focus on in real life or business?
An example is the greeting at an open house; people often say things like 'What brings you here?', which is a poor question. A better approach is to ask what the visitor is hoping to find or where they traveled from, unlocking more context and better engagement.
