  • Cheers to new beginnings

I have been a long time fan of the One Thing, both the podcast and the practice. Jay coming back to the helm gives a refreshing look at what it means to dream and to do. So many of my friends are in stages of growth and reinvention - this podcast gives such practical ways to grow slowly and then suddenly into the life we want to imagine. Highly recommend a listen! And even better - a subscribe. :)

  • Lost focus

Prime focus no longer “The One Thing”. Has some good content but definitely changed course after changing host. Sorry but the caliber has never recovered.

High-Stakes Communication: How to Negotiate Confidently, Ask Smarter Questions, and Build Influence with Phil Jones
Q: Can you give a practical example of a moment to focus on in real life or business?
An example is the greeting at an open house; people often say things like 'What brings you here?', which is a poor question. A better approach is to ask what the visitor is hoping to find or where they traveled from, unlocking more context and better engagement.
High-Stakes Communication: How to Negotiate Confidently, Ask Smarter Questions, and Build Influence with Phil Jones
Q: What are the four cornerstones of conversational excellence that underpin the book's sequences?
The four are: (1) the worst time to think about what you'll say is in the moment you say it; (2) curiosity is the fuel for great conversation; (3) people do things for their own reasons, not yours; (4) the person asking the questions controls the conversation.
High-Stakes Communication: How to Negotiate Confidently, Ask Smarter Questions, and Build Influence with Phil Jones
Q: How did you become known for 'Exactly What to Say' and what sparked the idea?
Phil explains how his early work delivering micro trainings and identifying 'magic words' led to a scalable concept that evolved into a book, with market feedback showing people repeatedly using his phrases long after a program ended.
The Psychology of Hope: A Blueprint for a More Hopeful Life with Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe
Q: What is the difference between hope and optimism, and why does it matter for everyday life?
Hope is a state of trusting that things will work out regardless of the immediate outcome, whereas optimism is often tied to a specific desired result; hope emphasizes process, agency, and adaptability.
Should Business Leaders Get Political? A Framework for Speaking Up
Q: If everyone in my position stayed silent, would the situation improve or get worse?
Assess the collective impact and responsibility before speaking up; if yes, proceed with care.
