What I don’t understand is why when it was happening in Calais you were all fundraising and donating to help for Calais, now it’s sorted by closing the camps a d letting them go wandering and Ireland has the problem you’re aghast. Total NIMBY. Cannot send them back to UK as UK send them to France-Germany-Italy etc. it’s not a problem that can be sorted. Get on with it. Maybe it’s the cost Ireland have to pay for the EU backing u up re Brexit

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#675 Why Is Religion Cool Again for Young People?
Q: Do you think young people are turning back to religion, and if so, why might that be happening?
The host and guests discuss a minority of young people showing renewed interest in religion, driven by a search for meaning, belonging, and community in an increasingly individualistic society, with some visitors suggesting that spiritual apps and cultural shifts play a role.
#701 Are Smaller Parties Given a Fighting Chance?
Q: Do you think you're getting a fair crack in the whip when it comes to airtime on RTÉ?
Paedar argues yes, asserting underrepresentation of smaller parties relative to larger blocs, while citing polling data and membership growth to claim growing legitimacy and the need for broader exposure.
#774 Who Watches the Watchers? The Rise of Government Censorship
Q: Cormac Lucey, what is your take on the balance between protecting children online and preserving free speech?
Cormac argues that while safeguards for children are important, genuine limits should avoid broad censorship and instead focus on targeted approaches, parent empowerment, and transparent criteria.
Did Fauci Know More Than He Ever Told Us? With John mcGuirk
Q: Where did the alleged 8% mortality rate come from, and why did governments act with such urgency given initial fears?
The host and guest discuss that the initially reported high mortality rate may have been overstated, leading to drastic measures, but acknowledge that governments acted on the information available at the time, and questions remain about why that information appeared so false.
#747 The Deposit Return Scheme Has Become A National Irritation, with Laura Perrins
Q: What is your overall take on the deposit return scheme?
The guest is critical, arguing it imposes financial and daily burdens on ordinary people and that rewards should be emphasized over penalties, with calls for better governance and transparency.
