  • Disappointing argument about Artemis

I'll take the optimism right now over cynicism and pessimism. I think its more healthy. Generally a worthwhile listen but sometimes seems badly informed. The Artemis episode was like listening to a bad prolonged argument with my other half and a lots of statements about the programme were plain wrong. I'm unsubscribing for a period

  • Decent podcast…terrible audio

Lively discussion but something has changed of late and the sound quality is terrible. Matt d’Ancona sounds muffled and barely audible. Can you fix this asap?

  • Worth a listen

If only to know how highly informed and educated people end up in the cul-de-sac of confusion searching for meaning and clarity. Unintentionally amusing.

  • A PSA test is not definitive.

Matt Ancona paints a disappointing picture of himself. Dismissing compassion is desperately sad and he seems to lack any depth of feeling towards a very young person who was deeply misguided. Owning the problem is our responsibility.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Two Matts Q&A: A media scandal and a dementia hero
Q: From Jack Vernon: Why has Westminster avoided dementia as a priority for almost two decades while devolved nations have acted, and what does dementia as the UK's biggest killer say about policy alignment?
The hosts acknowledge a historic neglect of dementia care, call for UK-wide strategy and better alignment between NHS and social care, and highlight the urgency of funding, early diagnosis, and supportive services for families.
The Two Matts Q&A: A media scandal and a dementia hero
Q: From Lou: Why does Europe hate on the UK in Eurovision and what does that say about post-Brexit sentiment and national perceptions?
They discuss post-Brexit sentiment turning into a pan-European joke and reflect on cultural and political dimensions beyond Brexit, noting that Eurovision has become a symbolic arena for broader UK-European relations and identity.
The Two Matts Q&A: A media scandal and a dementia hero
Q: From Ozzy Brendan in the UAE: Should the Tory by-election strategy sit out or run a candidate, and what does that indicate about Labour vs Reform dynamics?
They expect the Tories to run a candidate and stress that tactical voting will shape outcomes; Burnham's authenticity and local support in Manchester may prove decisive, while the reform challenge remains complex and intertwined with national strategy and party alliances.
The Two Matts Q&A: A media scandal and a dementia hero
Q: From Joe: Is there any way back from the social-media-fueled mischaracterization of Misan Harriman, and what should be done to counteract it?
The hosts argue that there is a concerted media and political manipulation using false narratives, and call for accountability, due diligence, and urgent, transparent responses from editorial bodies like Ipsos to address the spread of misinformation and protect individuals from harassment.
The Two Matts Q&A: What hope for the next generation and how does Farage get away with it?
Q: Does the HS2 saga reveal something profound about Britain and its governance?
Yes, it reflects both the long-term value of ambitious infrastructure and the political risk of cost overruns, regulatory overload, and changing public sentiment, signaling a need for steadier leadership and sustained investment in core infrastructure.
