  • A Class Political Act

This continues to be my go to pod for politics. A fantastically well informed team that eschews drama and concentrates on in-depth, proportionate analysis of the topics of the day. Plus the warmth and hilarity of the presenters makes it seem as if you are participating in a discussion with friends. Incidentally, it is on twice weekly not once every two weeks.

  • Another Great Episode of QR

The launch of the Rejoin the EU campaign by Best for Britain; the appalling editorial choice by the Beeb about fake migrants; and some excellent film reviews/recommendations. Another excellent QR!👏

  • Feelings inform fact

Lazy misandry and sneering at the natives by an Irish, Scot and a Greek. Anglophobic to its core.

  • A Very British Podcast

Last week Quiet Riot asked what defines “British”. The answer is that it does. The Anglo-Hiberno-Helleno-Caledonian hosts are serious, generous, well informed, rational, warm-hearted, cool-headed, obstreperous, idiosyncratic, irreverent, and often very funny. Truly a very British podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Farage's millions: Nothin' to see here guv
Q: Two questions for you: have you got a favorite election memory or example that you really get drawn to, political or otherwise?
Sam reflects on 1992 US and 1992 UK contexts, noting how the economy-focused messaging and strategic campaigns shaped long-term political strategy and the lasting influence of the Clinton campaign on modern political tactics.
Farage's millions: Nothin' to see here guv
Q: Sam, do you think there is any likelihood that Rupert Low's party and efforts could begin to absorb some of that reform vote, some of that undecided third you talked about in the middle?
Sam suggests Restore Britain's appeal is limited and that while it may pull some voters, Reform remains the more dominant right-leaning force; the bigger risk is Reform dragging their own stance further right, rather than Restore translating into a broad shift across the electorate.
Midnight Mass: From Landslide to Mudslide
Q: What do you say to that, Robert Jenrick?
The Conservative Party is dead; trust has evaporated, and reform is presented as the only national alternative that can unite the country.
Block, stock and two million smoking barrels
Q: Can I just start by asking, how is the atmosphere in Budapest in Hungary right now? Is it still on a high?
Ryder explains a conflicted but hopeful mood, noting celebrations among students and a broader sense that the electoral shift could open space for a more plural political system, though concerns about corruption and guardrails remain.
Eureka Hazarika special – Part 1: Labour finally chooses Europe
Q: Is there merit in sending the King to negotiate with the US and Europe given the current volatility?
Yes, but it's high risk; a strong, high-visibility gesture could signal resilience and unity, but it could backfire if perceived as political theatre or if Trump dominates the narrative.
