  • His Banner of Truth

A relaxing (the narrator's delivery) if not spiritually & intellectually edifying podcast.

In a world of shallow thinking & veneered truth (even within the church), Banner of Truth offers depth of thought & truth of substance.

  • Quickly becoming my favorite podcast

Everything the Banner of Truth produces is excellent, and this is no exception. Years of reading their magazine has taught me each article in it has value. Some may not look interesting at first, but when I read them, I realise how beneficial they all are. The podcast is the same way. I have thoroughly enjoyed each episode, and I cannot wait until Monday when the next one is released. Joshua does a great job as host. Very highly recommended. And to the Banner - thank you!!

  • Refreshing

I am very thankful under God for the Banner of Truth. This podcast is a real blessing and the host is clear and pleasant. Voices from the past are essential for us to hear because, though they had their blind spots, they weren’t the same blind spots that we have; and so they shine light in our dark and overlooked corners.

  • Excellent

I’ve been a subscriber to the Banner magazine for many years. It’s great to have the option to enjoy some of the gold that has been mined out of the archives of this quality reformed periodical in audio form! The production quality is excellent and the presenters have great reading voices. We hope this will bring many more people into contact with the Banner Magazine and Banner books. Praise God for this resource !

Who Were the Covenanters?: David Whitla Interview
Q: What were the killing times still today in Scotland?
Academically, most scholars would strictly apply the killing times to actually a very narrow period towards the very end of Charles II's reign, where the gloves came off, 1684, 1685, the last two years of his reign, where there were just particularly ferocious bouts of persecution.
Who Were the Covenanters?: David Whitla Interview
Q: Could you detail that for us? What connection is there? Theologically, in terms of the movement, in terms of church polity, with that Scottish Reformation of the 16th century?
If we're going to talk about a second Reformation in Scotland, that assumes, of course, a first Reformation. And the Scottish Covenanters very much saw themselves as heirs of that first generation of Scottish reformers.
Who Were the Covenanters?: David Whitla Interview
Q: Can I ask you, who were the Scottish Covenanters?
The Scottish Covenanters were 17th century Scottish Presbyterians who bound themselves by a public covenant to establish a national church that was reformed in theology, Presbyterian in polity, of course.
The Two Prophets to Nineveh (Author Interview)
Q: What can we gain from studying them side by side?
A side by side study of Jonah and Nahum offers a sort of panoramic view of the character of God.
Author Interview: W. Ross Blackburn
Q: What has that looked like for you? And has that been entirely separate from your work in the scriptures as an academic or has there been permeation between those two aspects of what you've done?
No, there's a great deal of overlap, really. I have served on a few boards of the Local Crisis Pregnancy Center in Boone, North Carolina.
