  • Chuffed

I’m a new owner after inheriting my mums 110. This podcast has been so smooth to slip into even with my limited knowledge. Often lots of relatable little remarks about the ownership of these vehicles. Very happy they were recommended to me.

  • Loving the Landy talk

As a fairly recent convert to the world of landys, I really enjoy listening to the banter and learning all sorts of tips from the guys. Very easy listening, always good humoured and I look forward to my midweek dose of LRM to go with my monthly mag subscription

  • Great show

I used to own a 2011 Defender 90. I sold it during covid as it wasn’t being used and I got a silly price for it. I do miss it and would love another one. Maybe I’ve missed the boat. Still love hearing about the brand and get a good laugh from you guys. Don from Melbourne Australia.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Your questions answered! Plus new tools and insurance write-offs
Q: What are your thoughts on insurance write-offs and rebuilding a Defender from a logbook that shows a category mark?
The hosts explain that rebuilding with a new chassis or bulkhead can make the vehicle usable and valuable, but the logbook category affects resale and insurance and buyers should do thorough homework on the rebuilders, with specialist insurers like Adrian Flux often being more understanding of categorized vehicles.
Jon Masters on G-WAC Discoverys, Camel Trophy restorations and rescuing Wolfs
Q: How did the restoration stuff start? Have you got a technical background or did you teach yourself?
Jon explains that his dad, an engineer and mechanic, taught him the basics and he learned through hands-on experience and collaboration; although he isn't employed as a professional mechanic, farming work and a long history with Land Rovers provided practical skills and a network of help.
Nick Dimbleby on photography, TEW, his unicorn Disco 3 and perfect Range Rover Classic
Q: What was TEW and how did it come about?
TEW is my 100-inch Defender that originated as a project vehicle for 4x4 magazine; it evolved through iterations from a Range Rover-based concept to a heavily modified, ARB-equipped, 35-inch-tire machine, and later became part of the vehicle of doom lineage under different editors before returning to life as a modernized project.
Nick Dimbleby on photography, TEW, his unicorn Disco 3 and perfect Range Rover Classic
Q: Where did your career with Land Rovers start, and how did photography become central for you?
It started in my youth in Somerset, growing up around Land Rovers, and I began photographing them as a way to get my pictures in print, ultimately publishing a book on Range Rover conversions at a very young age and moving into Land Rover Owner magazine shortly after.
Autojumble season is in full swing! Plus Unimogs, petrol engines and listeners' questions answered
Q: Can you recommend a specialist and a reasonable price for steering boxes?
Consider arguing the case with the supplier to get your money back on the faulty box or opt for a genuine one if you plan to keep the vehicle long-term.
