  • Accessible, funny and informative

I love this podcast. It keeps me up to date with news and reviews of all sorts of shows without ever straying into pretentiousness. The way the three hosts riff with each other is very engaging. The episodes fly by.

  • Cheers from the dress circle

Today, I accidentally discovered that Nancy, Nick, and Nick carried on the Evening Standard Theatre Podcast independently – and it MADE MY DAY! I'm not based in London and so you might be forgiven for thinking I’d have limited use for a reviews podcast. Yet these three seasoned critics' lively review chats and interviews are not only a reasonably lighthearted and reasonably thoughtful little window into some stuff currently going on in London theatre. Much more than that, they simply are such an... more

  • A fine balance

Smart, funny, knowledgeable, good hinterland, no posturing. Like eavesdropping on three friends riffing off each other. Going to the theatre is a high risk investment - I feel like I could rely on these guys. The interview segment is a welcome change of pace. Excellent production.

  • The show MUST go on…. PLEASE!

Witty, relaxed and truly informative - a joy to listen to these three theatre titans wax lyrical about the latest shows to see. Even booked tickets off the back of listening to shows I wouldn’t had previously considered. Keep it up Nancy, Nick and Nick!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Harold Fry, Man and Boy, Chadwick Boseman's hip hop play
Q: Who did Terence Rattigan say he wrote all of his plays for?
The answer is Aunt Edna, a middle-class woman who knows what she likes.
Cynthia Erivo in Dracula, Hugh Bonneville in Shadowlands, Jenna Russell, Laurie Kynaston
Q: How does it work as a musical? What does the music add to it?
The music is brilliant. There's something, there are musicals, and there are musicals. This is a genre that can be very shiny and kind of almost vacuous, but also can do things that I don't think any other theatre can do.

Simon Callow holds this belief staunchly.
Arcadia, Keala Settle, American Psycho the Musical

Keala expresses that it's not the end of her musical theatre career, but an opportunity to explore different stories without being limited.
Arcadia, Keala Settle, American Psycho the Musical
Q: Tell me about the play and who you're playing?
Keala discusses her role as Mary Todd Lincoln in "Mrs. President" and describes the play as beautiful and revealing, emphasizing its emotional depth.
