  • Local man yells at clouds

I found Randy’s podcast while searching for content about SB 79. I was hoping — especially since it has KABC branding — to find a reasoned overview of SB 79 and what the pros and cons of the legislation would be. What I found instead was a snobby and privileged local home owner who doesn’t understand why people would live in apartments, is afraid of tall buildings, and laments that California doesn’t build starter homes in big cities anymore.

Q: Do we need to make more changes to Prop 36 at the state level, or should we be enforcing the laws as written now?
Prop 36 is viewed as not flawed in principle but underfunded and under-enforced; the argument is for stronger implementation, more jail space, and better funding to actually execute the law and reduce recidivism, rather than abandoning it.
Perris residents want to ban data centers
Q: Can you explain what's been going on with the operations to try to clean up MacArthur Park?
The efforts involve a multi-phase crackdown in cooperation with federal and local law enforcement to target the drug trade around MacArthur Park, culminating in actions that aim to arrest users and addicts to compel rehab, while acknowledging Prop 36 reforms that allow these kinds of enforcement actions.
