  • Changed My Life!

This review is long overdue. I religiously listened to this podcast while interviewing for jobs almost two years ago (I said overdue didn’t I?!). There was one shorter episode where Matthew ensures the listener “You’ve got this! You’ve put in the work and it’s your time” meant to encourage confidence and pump you up before an interview and I’m telling y’all I probably listened to that episode 20 times before various interviews and interview stages. It WORKED! I had done the prep work, I practice... more

  • You’re one of the GOATS at this stuff Matthew 🩷!

You are one of the best teachers, guides and experts in this area of job search, job interview and even going into details how to write a resume with a cover letter. I love that you’re not seeking clients or anything scammers do or any grifts. You’re the real deal. I learned so much from you for someone who’s not even in executive positions of the corporate world. Anybody should listen to your podcast regardless of their work experiences or field then they can tie it into their own process to wi... more

  • Amazing Advice

I started listening to this podcast several years ago when I was actively looking for a job. I decided to stop my job search but restarted again this year. Matthew’s advice throughout was phenomenal. I ended up scheduling a one on one coaching session as well and would highly recommend that too. I got the job that I was looking for and couldn’t be happier!

  • Engaging

I have been listening now to a few episodes of the podcast (mostly old ones for now) and I have to say, it is very engaging and relevant to me. I like that it is not prescriptive (you should do this and that), rather it encourages me to think about some fundamental questions and give a few tools to that effectively.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Andres Lares - The Negotiation Secrets They Don’t Teach You in Business School
Q: Can you give us one or two foundational negotiation principles that our listeners can take away?
People make decisions emotionally and justify them rationally. Additionally, much is lost for the one of asking; if you don't ask, you guarantee you won't get anything.
Andres Lares - The Negotiation Secrets They Don’t Teach You in Business School
Q: What rookie mistakes would you anticipate they make when entering a salary negotiation?
The first rookie mistake is not being prepared enough, especially when justifying why a raise is warranted. The second is allowing a negative attitude to take over if the negotiation doesn't go as hoped, impacting future interactions and relationships.

Q: I'm struggling on how to get back into the workforce full time and how to present myself or even what types of jobs to go for.
Use your previous experience positively and stay connected to your field, showing it is part of who you are.

Q: How should I present myself when getting back into the workforce?
Avoid stating you're just looking for money; focus on your passion for the work and connection to the employer.
Overqualified? Underqualified? Out of Work? Let’s Talk Strategy.
Q: Should I go for an entry-level one that I'm overqualified for, just to get my foot in the door?
Aim a little higher than where you left off - worst case scenario you get practice interviews.
