  • This is usually a fun listen

Disappointed in JD’s anti Olympic hockey take. Feels like he really moves as the wind blows… Update: While I don’t like some aspects of the show, I do think that JD is relatable - and I’m bumping my rating to five stars because I agree with every single word of his take on Ovie’s chase of Gretzky. Show is at its best when JD has a co-host like Ben or Blake to provide contrast. Love the bit about snooze on alarm clocks. // Original review: I listen to this show in part because JD often has great ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Leafs Locker Cleanout
Q: What is the biggest reason the team regressed from last season to this one?
The host cites a combination of inconsistency, leadership gaps, and a disconnect between culture and on-ice performance, suggesting multiple areas for improvement rather than a single culprit.
Matthews' Comments, Leafs GM Search and What's Next w/ James Mirtle
Q: How do you view the Leafs' GM/search timeline and the potential for two leadership roles (president of hockey operations and GM)?
There's pressure from ownership to conduct a robust, patient search that could involve multiple candidates, with a potential to appoint both a president and a GM if it improves the odds of finding the right leadership; speed is balanced against getting the right fit.
Matthews' Comments, Leafs GM Search and What's Next w/ James Mirtle
Q: What did you think of Auston Matthews' comments and what did they imply about his future with the team?
Matthews was noncommittal and focused on wanting to see the plan, suggesting he hasn't ruled out staying but also indicating the decision depends on who is running the team and what the long-term plan looks like.
Raptors on the Ropes w/ Michael Grange
Q: Brandon Ingram blamed the media for misquoting him after the game last night; what was the reaction in the interview about his comments and how his team should respond?
Grange indicated there were questions about what Ingram meant by his post-game comments, clarified there was no ill intent, and emphasized the need for Ingram to be aggressive but also for the team to support him while continuing to find ways to involve others and keep the offense flowing.
Blue Jays Hell Week w/ Ben Nicholson-Smith
Q: Is there optimism that this will turn around soon?
Yes, there is optimism tied to returning health, stronger bullpen leverage, and marquee starting pitching from Gausman and Cease, but it requires players to perform and for the injuries to heal, with patience for the front-office strategy.
