  • Hot Take

If you enjoy early-middle-age guys who are obsessed with seeming young, sound perpetually annoyed and pissy, talk down to everyone and come off like they think they’re the smartest people in the room… then “jump on” and “chop it up” with the King of Hot Takes. When JD avoids all that b.s. he’s actually quite insightful.

  • This is usually a fun listen

Disappointed in JD’s anti Olympic hockey take. Feels like he really moves as the wind blows… Update: While I don’t like some aspects of the show, I do think that JD is relatable - and I’m bumping my rating to five stars because I agree with every single word of his take on Ovie’s chase of Gretzky. Show is at its best when JD has a co-host like Ben or Blake to provide contrast. Love the bit about snooze on alarm clocks. // Original review: I listen to this show in part because JD often has great ... more

Jays Outfield Crunch, Vegas' Sweep & Thunder-Spurs Game 5 Takeaways
Q: What changes are you most optimistic about for the Blue Jays with Barger's return?
I'm optimistic that Barger's everyday play will stabilize the lineup, provide better balance against right-handed pitching, and allow the team to maintain a stronger lineup with more depth while preserving their ceiling.
JD's Jays WAR Leaders w/ Ben Nicholson-Smith + The Avs are Done + What Mattered Most From the Thunder/Spurs Split
Q: Is Patrick Corbin the MVP of the Blue Jays' season so far?
Yes, he's been a stabilizing force and has delivered unexpectedly strong results given his prior track record, making a case that he has been the most valuable arm on the Jays this season.
Chris Bassitt
Q: You play with five different teams, including you had your longest tenure with Oakland, and made an all-star appearance in your final year there. So you faced a lot of former teams, a lot of former teammates, but was this one strange or did it feel different at all? Or do you think that happens a little bit more maybe when you come back to the Rogers Center?
Bassitt describes facing former teammates as bittersweet but not crazy weird; the emotional edge comes from familiarity with the players and the city, making the return feel personal yet competitive.
McKenna Nitpicks + Jays Power Outage w/ Kevin Barker
Q: What do you want to see from him at the plate when he comes back?
Barker emphasizes returning to a balanced approach with educated guessing, more walks, and using a broader inner-half approach to stay on pitches and drive the ball with authority, especially in the middle of the order.
Chayka and Sundin Meet the Press + What's Next w/ Nick Kypreos
Q: What stuck with you after leaving the interview with Chayka and Sundin?
Kype replies that both men need to go home and rest, acknowledging the heavy workload ahead and the significant depth of work required to implement their plans, while emphasizing the need for a fast but careful rebuild.
