  • Love you, but….

I listen to every episode as soon as it drops. I genuinely love the podcast, and Nick is definitely a highlight for me.

What I don’t really appreciate, though, is the occasional “dude-y” tone. It’s 2026, and I (and I’m sure many others) would really value moving away from that locker-room mentality.

Instead, I’d love to hear more thoughtful analysis — what actually builds a great team? What mental barriers do players face? That kind of depth would take the podcast to the next level.

    Please.

“Leafs Morning Take” is an exercise in frustration for anyone hoping for insightful or nuanced hockey commentary. Jay Rosehill speaks his mind — that much is undeniable, and on the surface, it’s a quality worth appreciating. There’s a certain unfiltered, straight-from-the-gut rawness to his delivery that gives the show a loose, conversational feel.

Unfortunately, the lack of a filter only serves to highlight the bigger issue: Rosehill’s takes are, more often than not, woefully underdeveloped. H... more

Before I found Leafs Morning Take, my husband and kid would have the games on and I only sorta paid attention. I knew the Toronto Maple Leafs were a big deal, but that was about it. Then my husband kept turning this show on —and everything changed.

Hosted with a perfect mix of insight, personality, and humor, Leafs Morning Take somehow makes every episode feel like you're just chatting hockey with good friends. It’s not just the stats or the scores—they break things down in a way that’s smart a... more

Coaching Search Begins in Toronto ft. Peter Laviolette
Q: What would be appealing about a job in Toronto you think?

Gavin McKenna: The Future of the Maple Leafs? ft. Willie Desjardins
Q: Would pairing Gavin McKenna with a player like Auston Matthews be feasible in a new Leafs era?
Desjardins suggests it's possible but must be earned on the ice; the right fit would depend on the coaching strategy and training camp evaluations, with options explored to determine the best line combinations for development and performance.
Gavin McKenna: The Future of the Maple Leafs? ft. Willie Desjardins
Q: What does Gavin McKenna's ceiling look like in the NHL if he reaches Toronto?
Willie Desjardins emphasizes that McKenna has the vision, confidence with the puck, and leadership potential to thrive, especially in a market like Toronto if surrounded by the right mentors and leadership; the path will depend on his ability to grow defensively and adapt to a pro-level workload, but the ceiling could be high with the right environment.
Willie Desjardins on the Leafs Job & Coaching Gavin McKenna
Q: How would you approach deploying McKenna if he makes the team, and could he start with a line like Matthews?
It's still about earned roles; McKenna should earn his spot rather than be handed a line. If he demonstrates compatibility and chemistry, the coaching staff would explore options in training camp to find what works best, potentially pairing him with a top-line player if the fit is right.
