  • One for true music fans

I got into this quite late thanks to Gary Jarman from The Cribs and have hung around ever since. Now at 300 episodes, the last being with Betty Boo! I love the eclectic mix of artists who appear on this podcast and the conversational approach from James, which leads to things being discussed that you may not hear elsewhere. A large back catalogue for me to dip into now too!

  • Amazing music interviews

Favourite new podcasts. I’ve learnt a lot a about music, and bands known and beloved, and new. And learnt an equal amount about the art of a good interview. Sign up for the Patreon. Thanks James.

  • Abrasive host

Listening to this interview with Adam Franklin. The host is subtly caustic from the start. Adam is too much of a gentleman to push back and just ignores it.

Host seems to know almost nothing about music

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 277: Ross Gordon, Cold Years
Q: How do you feel about the political commentary in your music now compared to the last album?
I decided to move toward a more personal approach instead of simply being angry about politics, as I felt nothing has changed since the last album.
Episode 277: Ross Gordon, Cold Years
Q: How did you come to be paired up with Brett Roms?
We clicked immediately over our shared love for 90s British garage rock, which made our decision to work together feel right.
REWIND! Episode 239: The K's
Q: What does success look like to you?
Success isn't measured by headlines or massive achievements, but rather by the ability to keep creating quality music that resonates with their audience.
REWIND! Episode 239: The K's
Q: Why do you think it has taken so long for the K's to release an album?
The band explains that they were doing well with singles, but lacked direction initially. The pandemic also delayed their plans and led to a backlog for album releases in the industry. However, they feel this timing works out to their advantage now because they are better as a band.
Episode 283: Scott Lavene
Q: Tell me more about your music storytelling and how you capture emotions in your songs.
I try to write in a way that finds wonder in the details and presents emotionally honest experiences without glamorizing them.
